I pretty sure we're going to be seeing something special.Clocked at 97 in his last start. Never clocked that high in his career.
[dustybaker]#### THAT $h!T #####!! [\dustybaker]Traded Danks for offense to make room for Edison. Is he going to be on a strict pitch count early on?
Really? I could have sworn he threw that hard early in '08. Either way, hopefully he can get his control under control. When he's on he's fun to watch. Just been a while since he's been on.Clocked at 97 in his last start. Never clocked that high in his career.
I watched him in Indianpolis over the 4th weekend and the mit was a poppin.Clocked at 97 in his last start. Never clocked that high in his career.

Volquez is a must-start in all NL Central leagues right now. He should also be rostered in deeper leagues.
I don't know that answer, but I would expect him to be inconsistent...good and great at times, but inconsistent. He's better for H2H this season than roto, I'll be using him conservatively in both of my leagues. One's a salary cap auction keeper, I'm jacked about keeping him next season for pennies on the dollar.Traded Danks for offense to make room for Edison. He'll have some ups and downs, but I'd expect far more next year than this year.He wasn't a strike throwing machine before surgery, and I don't imagine he'll be one a year removed from Tommy John surgery either. He's got plenty of years left in him, but he's always had a somewhat violent delivery and he'll always be an injury risk, too.Nice outing today.
75 pitches (only 38 for strikes) in 2.1 IP!

Against a disgusting "getaway day" Nats lineup, mind you.

He had a big outing his first day back. Were you really expecting a big outing his first day back in the bigs? Come on, hoss...find another nit to pick.
Didn't expect much from his first outing, although he got the win with 6IN 3H 2BB and 9K'sHis second, no so goodWere you really expecting a big outing his first day back in the bigs? Come on, hoss...find another nit to pick.
Oh well whaddya know. Yesterday was a blip on the radar. And I would consider Volquez a strikeout pitcher. He's averaged a K/IP since he entered the league. With his reconstructed elbow I expect bigger things.Didn't expect much from his first outing, although he got the win with 6IN 3H 2BB and 9K'sHis second, no so goodWere you really expecting a big outing his first day back in the bigs? Should have known it was you he posted this. He's averaged a K per inning since coming into the league. Why do you type stuff like this? He'll have some ups and downs, but I'd expect far more next year than this year.He wasn't a strike throwing machine before surgery, and I don't imagine he'll be one a year removed from Tommy John surgery either. Sometimes I wish I wasn't right. For example, when I didn't activate him in time for start #1 and then put him in the lineup for start #2. I think I'm going to keep him on the bench for at least his next 2-3 starts regardless of what he does.I don't know that answer, but I would expect him to be inconsistent...good and great at times, but inconsistent. He's better for H2H this season than roto, I'll be using him conservatively in both of my leagues. Not so good at reading comprehension, huh? I said he wasn't a strike throwing machine, meaning he had very mediocre control even before TJ surgery, and I wasn't expecting him to have good control a year after the surgery. Strikeouts don't mean he has good control, it means he has great stuff. Lots of pitchers have high strikeout numbers without good control, and he was one of them. What I said was accurate. His control was bad enough and he's sucked long enough that he's been bumped out of the rotation. Next year, he'll bounce back closer to what he was when he's at the 18 month mark.Should have known it was you he posted this. He's averaged a K per inning since coming into the league.
