Wouldn't that be the 33rd percentile?he is better than probably 1/3 of the league's QBs. Yes yes not a ringing endorsement to say your QB is in the 67th percentile

ESPN's Jordan Raanan doesn't expect the Giants to address quarterback early in the draft.
The Giants have talked about drafting a successor to Eli Manning but it's unlikely Mitchell Trubisky or Deshaun Watson would fall to them with the 23rd pick. Coach Ben McAdoo was present for Pat Mahomes' Pro Day as well, but he wouldn't be an option until at least the second round. Raanan does expect the Giants to add a quarterback in the draft, though it will probably happen on Day 2. Josh Dobbs, Jerod Evans and Nathan Peterman could be available in that range.

Speaking in a Thursday radio interview, Giants co-owner John Mara said Eli Manning has "a lot of years left in him."
It's the exact opposite of what Mara and most of the Giants' brass were saying earlier this offseason. Speaking in March, Mara said he was open to drafting Manning's successor. The G-Men ended up settling on third-round question mark Davis Webb. Headed into his age-36 campaign, Manning simply wasn't good enough in 2016. Coach Ben McAdoo said as much in March. The G-Men need a rebound.

Teams always say how awful their qbs are just before the season. It’s not a stretch to say Eli has a few productive years left. With the recent additions at wr I think Manning will have a very solid year.
you're probably right but it seems odd when applied to a player who is top 10 (7th actually) in passing yards and TDs all time. 40th in rating though, so a lot of that is just longevity and era.Teams always say how awful their qbs are just before the season.
He certainly has the talent around him but he's underachieved every year so far and there isn't many years left.
It is amazing but without those surprise super bowls he's a bit of a rich man's Jay Cutler.you're probably right but it seems odd when applied to a player who is top 10 (7th actually) in passing yards and TDs all time. 40th in rating though, so a lot of that is just longevity and era.
That seems a bit harsh. It is amazing but without those surprise super bowls he's a bit of a rich man's Jay Cutler.
Six Top 10 finishes out of 13 seasons is really not that impressive for a guy many consider to be a lock HOFer. Fantasy wise, he's had one season with a VBD score over 25 (with a career total of 157). Over the past 3 seasons, he's ranked 17th in fantasy ppg. He is what he is at this point . . . a fantasy QB2 with upside to be a bottom end QB1 in terms of per game numbers. His year end rankings look better because he hasn't missed a game in 12 years as the full time starter. That's not necessarily a good thing for fantasy purposes.Six QB Top Ten seasons, including two of the last three. Added weapons help give him a chance to do this again in 2017.
That's a pretty damning article
Actually, based on statistics, the last two years are pretty much in line or better than his career averages. Completion percentage is as high as it has ever been, and his TD to int ratio the last two years are a little better than his career average of 3 to 2. The only thing that has declined significantly this year is his yards per attempt, and a lot of that has to do with his WR's being hurt which has taken away his ability to go deep.Giants might want to fix the O-line next year, sad how they're wasted Eli the last 2 years and now he's a shell of himself with a terrible o-line.
Yep. The 2 SB wins and his name will get him in but he doesn't deserve it. He's top 10 all time in a bunch of stats but don't think he was top 10 any of the seasons he played. In a world where stupidity reins, yes he’ll probably make the HOF. But his peers have outplayed him and he’s not good enough.
Yeah they are not going to bench Eli. This is a situation where the coaching staff needs to bench themselves but of course that would never happen. They're not benching him.
He's their best player by far right now and his decline in YPA is exclusively due to having about minus three seconds to hold the ball before he gets blasted yet again due to the continuing stream of olé blocks from his offensive line. Dudes think they're matadors.
And he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame just for being a two time Patriot killer.
I am with ya. Let's do this.I think I'm starting him this week

Agreed unfortunately I have no choice. All the other popular picks are taken and Cutler has a tougher matchupwhen all the pundits say start this guy v sf this week I think it means bench his butt on your fantasy roster and dont look back.im inclined to believe this season is the anti-pundit season, where you go against the flow on every call..
I disagree. The fact McAdoo has alluded to benching Eli is key (whether it's his decision or the FO). They're essentially softening the blow when it does come. They're not benching him.

No the hardest thing is to never have a franchise QB in the first place, which is where more than a few teams fall. And the other teams you mentioned had a HOF QB which is even more rare. I think teams can invest all they want in the oline and dline, but it usually doesn't matter unless you have a good QB or a dominant defense and some luck along the way. This has to be one of the hardest things for NFL teams to do. When you have what has been a franchise qb, it is so much harder to transition.
He barely got anytime in preseason which never made any sense to me. I hope they start dressing him to give him some spot time if they are getting handled again. Gene Smith has no business taking any snaps at this point.Davis Webb was a 3rd round pick so he definitely should be considered a legit prospect.
The Giants also had an especially high grade on him.
Webb is going to get some PT this season.
Yeah, I don't necessarily know how it'll be handled, but whether Eli gets permanently benched or Webb is given spot duty, Eli is going to lose snaps to Webb this season. He barely got anytime in preseason which never made any sense to me. The Packers knew what the had in Aaron Rodgers and it wasn't because they gave him an in season test drive. The Packers got lucky. When their time came, they kind of knew what they probably had in Rodgers. The Giants don't know anything they have.
