Certainly one of the luckiest plays i've ever seen.reminded me of that 4th and 26 play favre completed to beat the Eagles that one year.
You got that backwards.Certainly one of the luckiest plays i've ever seen.

agreed, hard to argue it wouldn't be right there with the best of all time, especially with Eli just being able to get a throw off and then the catch...Right up there with the best, unbelieveable play....
The fact that all happened together was phenomenal. The catch alone puts it in the top 20. The place in the game makes it at least top 5. Add Eli's escape and it's hard to say there's been one better.
The only element that those other plays had that Tyree's catch lacked was the fact that each resulted in a TD that pushed their team to the lead, while there were still 24 yards to go in this case...Greatest Super Bowl play of all-time, quite possible greatest football play of all-time. Yes, Immaculate Reception and "The Catch" included.Since the Giants won, it has to be up there above McNair's. In that instance, circumstances afterwards determines it but hey, that's the way it goes. Plus Eli and Tyree's effort was just as amazing as McNair's.
And in fact both of the other plays happened with less time on the clock... but I like the way you're thinking! The only element that those other plays had that Tyree's catch lacked was the fact that each resulted in a TD that pushed their team to the lead, while there were still 24 yards to go in this case...Greatest Super Bowl play of all-time, quite possible greatest football play of all-time. I hear ya. I think what also needs to be factored in though is the Pats' perfect season ending. The whole game was so ridiculously improbable, whereas no one was shocked by the Steelers or Niners winning. So the fact that they made THAT play at THAT time to win THAT game is just so...holy crap. I agree that if the G-Men hadn't scored, that play would just be Endy Chavez in the NLCS two years ago (sorry for posting a baseball reference in the SP). Plus the degree of difficulty on the Eli/Tyree play was higher than the others. I will still call this play the greatest I've ever seen, but I can't possibly argue against anyone who thinks otherwise. Either way, it was unfrigginbelievable! The Immaculate Reception wasn't in the SB.Given the time and situation in the game and the great play on both ends (Eli with the escape and Tyree with the AMAZING catch), I would have to call that the greatest play in SB history. The Immaculate Reception came on fourth down with 22 seconds left in the game; there's no way Eli to Tyree matches that for drama. But given that there have been precious few Super Bowls with any drama at all, today's play certainly ranks near the top all-time.
