Our league is in it's 2nd year, and last year we had numerous problems with eligibilty. Last year we used Yahoo and the rule basically allowed what the Yahoo website allowed. This lead to many arguments and a few people stating they will not play again. As the football commish I understand the importance of having solid rules in place. Our baseball commish has opened this issue to the league for possible solutions. This year we are using CBS for our league hosting service.

Does anyone know if CBS allows the commish to set the positions for players? Meaning can the commish change a player's position eligibilty?

What is your league's rule for position eligibilty? How do you handle a player like R.Braun who started 112 games at 3B last year but is moving to OF this year? Should he be allowed to be used as a 3B or OF only?

What about the pitchers like F.Carmona last year that had the SP or RP eligibility? How do you handle that one?

I like Yahoo's system just fine  Braun should be only eligible at 3B until he plays 5 games at OF then hes eligible at both. You should eliminate SP/RP designation and just go with P.

yahoo has firm rules on this

not sure where the room to argue is

pasted from yahoo's site

"Batters need either 5 Games Started or 10 Games Played at a position to gain eligibility. Pitchers need 3 Starts to gain SP eligibility, 5 Relief Appearances to gain RP eligibility."

Nothing wrong with Yahoo's system. But to answer the bolded....100% YES.

On CBS, you can also customize how many games it takes a player to become eligible at a new position, or what qualifies him from the season before (I'm almost 100% on this part). It's not locked down site wide like Yahoo.

Before my CBS league actually listened to me, the commish would only allow players to be eligible at one position (the dominant one) and would alter player eligibility to do it. His old way, Braun would be only OF this year right off the bat. Now, Braun is 3B and will gain OF eligibility after he starts 20 games there. This is also the requirement from the season before for players to start off a new season with dual eligibility.

To start the year - whatever positions they were avialable at last year. As the year progresses, once they hit 20 games at a position.

I have seen many leagues with 5 game eligibility. I prefer at least 20.
