Emmitt on Sportscenter today: Much Improved (1 Viewer)

As some of you know, Im a huge Emmitt Smith fan. Even I could only cringe as he spoke last year. Week after week he would struggle with the English language.

Watching today he was much, much better. He was clearly taking his time and seemed far more comfortable. I bet last year that if ESPN didn't dump him, that he would eventually be a good analyst. If tonight was any indication, he's on his way.

I got a good laugh out of this."You see Boomer, they ain't got no good balls carriers."

I actually had ESPN today when he came on and didn't pay attention to who it was. I thought the person did a pretty good job with the Favre story, heard a reference to playing for the Cards at the end of his career, and noticed it was Smith. He always struck me as a hard worker, so I'm not really surprised he has buckled down and improved his television persona.

I swear I heard him say: "Boom goes the dynamite" last year.

Same thing happened to me a couple of days ago; I was surprised because his voice is usually distinctive--and not in a good way! He actually stopped mid-sentence once and corrected his grammar (can't remember the exact words), which made me think he was spoken to about his need to work on not butchering the English language.
