Eric Decker after 2 weeks? (1 Viewer)

Decker was hyped this offseason, but after 2 sub-par weeks that hype seems to have worn off. Thoughts on Decker going forward? Is he still a legit fantasy WR2?

Honestly, this is one of those cases where I think you could go into the supermarket, pick up the fantasy mag that has been sitting there for 4+ months and get a more accurate read as to where he will end up on the year (about WR 30-32). Besides being able to go into the crapper with me, I think this is the one area where mags are great...they don't buy into preseason hype.

People need to remember what a very short sample 2 games are. So he has 107 yards and no TDs. One missed tackle or big play somewhere and those numbers are maybe 180 and 1. He has 9 catches (extrapolates to 72 for a season), so it's not as if he's been uninvolved. I'd just advise patience. If you were a believer in him and his situation before, I don't think these two games are a big reason to change that.

As Bruce said, I don't think the first two games have told you much.

Decker is a sure thing to be a part of this offense and the first two games have done nothing but back that statement up.

throughout the season their will more than a few 4 catch 50 yard games for almost all WRs unless were talking Calvin Johnson.

The difference is these two games...were, well, they first two games of the season after a lot of preseason hype and elevated expectations.

let's say his first 5 weeks looked something like this instead:

week 1: 4 REC 50 YDs

week 2: 6 REC 80 YDS 1 TD

Week 3: 7 REC 96 YDS

week 4: 4 REC 48 YDs

week 5: 6 REC 102 YDs

Those two games still happened but they came in-between other games. It has a lot more to do with how you think things will average out rather than what the numbers actually look like right now.

This is why I think people are crazy to be judging Fitz by two weeks.

The catches may not be there right now for Decker, but they will come. The more important thing is the targets(on pace for 120).

These types of games are things you just have to weather the storm with and hope others step up those weeks

ETA: I've backed Demaryius the whole summer when it came to who is the #1 in Denver, but Decker still is a great value as a WR2 ( 70-80 REC 1000-1100 yards and 5-6 TDs)

He's been targeted twice less than D.Thomas. He's a great buy-low candidate. He's gotten unlucky with some PI calls in the RZ as well.

I think that Thomas is clearly the go to guy for Manning. But like others have mentioned Decker will get his and have several great games.

I agree he'll still have numbers - but every week that goes by, the ceiling is lowered. I would have thought maybe 9 td ceiling prior to the year - now it's looking like 7.

:goodposting: I think the question Decker/Thomas owners need to answer for themselves to figure out how they see the two is "If you own (Decker/Thomas) would you trade him straight up for the other?"As a DT owner, the answer is "No". I think Thomas is the (albiet, slightly) preferred WR of choice for Manning - especially in the RZ.

I hope he has one more ok game so I can get him even cheaper. Funny thing, he hasn't really done terrible anyway. He paces 850 yards and 72 receptions over 16 games. For where owners drafted him, a 3rd WR, he isn't bad at all, especially in PPR. I won't argue that's fantastic by any means; after all, you could have had Manning's former #87. But for a guy who has never really produced in the NFL, how can one have too much disappointment after 2 games? Try to take advantage of impatient owners.Defenses might start applying more attention to Thomas too opening things up for Decker.

:goodposting: As DT continues to outproduce Decker, eventually it will result in all of the coverages being rolled towards DT. The more defenses focus on DT, the more it will open up for Decker and Manning will go to him.

Houston's defense is very tough, so after this week may be a good time to target Decker.

I read a good analysis somewhere (don't remember where or I'd post the link) that said beware of Decker's first three games but that he should improve thereafter.

I know in Week 2 he had a late game end zone target but the Atlanta defender appeared to hold his arm. Also correct me if I'm wrong but I think he had a RZ target go through his hands in Week 1.

I am disappointed - can't lie. Have to think DT gets all the defensive focus which will create more opps for Decker.
this... looking pretty good thus far today...

Decker has had 3 pass interference calls on him 3 straight weeks in the endzone. He also had a rocket ball go through his hands into the TEs hands late. The targets are there. He'll score soon. Not worried about him at all.
