Profootballtalk.com reports the Browns are expected to sign free agent OL Eric Steinbach to a contract worth roughly $7 million-per-season.

Steinbach will play left guard if he signs with Cleveland on Friday.

This would be a great signing for them, and they have tried the last 2 years to build the team up the right way. Building the lines first, and if they do add AD, they are going to improve. Also helps to take a big time FA from a division rival.

Here we go Brownies here we go!!!!! Woof woof!

Hopefully he can at least make it through one practice unlike our last big money free agent offensive linemen.

Geez, when you think about the money Cleveland will have dropped on it's O-Line in the last 2 off-seasons:

Kevin Shaffer

LeCharles Bentley

Hank Fraley

Eric Stienbach

...it's not a bad place to invest, but given the $$$, the return looks small by comparison.

Don't forget Joe Andruzzi as well.

You gotta think that if they don't draft Peterson then it will still be a big upgrade to whatever RB gets the job there.

damn. i was really hoping the jets would make him an offer. He'd look great between mangold and ferguson

"Hello Mr. Steinbach? This is James Andrews, MD. I just wanted to introduce myself. I look forward to working with you."
"The good news, Mr. Steinbach, is that when you get injured, your team automatically becomes qualified for our group volume discount rate, saving you 10%! I leave it up to you as to which teammate gets our referral bonus."

Is Droughns completely out of the picture? With an upgraded o-line, shouldn't the Browns be able to target other needs than RB?* Wishful Droughns owner in a dynasty league.

Yeah, I'm thinking and hoping the same thing. I own him along with Harrison and Wright and would hate to see Peterson go there too. Coincidentally enough I also own the 1.1.

I thought there were reports that Steinbach was heading down to Tampa to talk to them about a position on their OL -- either guard or tackle.

Reports of Steinbach to Cleveland may be premature.

He didn't sign with Cleveland yet. Sounds like he's flying to a couple different places. I doubt he'll be signed anywhere today.

Cosey Coleman down?
Cosey is gone, so that doesn't matter.I don't see an issue with signing two pro bowl caliber players and Shaffer (who gets a bad wrap, might be overpaid, but still is serviceable). You guys realize what this line looked like a few years ago? If Bentley doesn't rip up his leg, Fraley is not here. Fraley IS a neccesity now though, especially if Bentley's career is done (he could get cut in June when they know more, correct?). You don't go rookie at center and there were no better FA out there (I think). Andruzzi will either start or be an all purpose backup that will see time with when they want to grind out.

Steinbach

Eric Steinbach already has three visits lined up in free agency according to various published reports and one of the teams is eying him as a left tackle.

Steinbach, the Bengals Pro Bowl alternate left guard is visiting Cleveland Friday on the first day of free agency and Tampa Bay Saturday, according to reports from The Cleveland Plain-Dealer and PewterReport.com, respectively. He’s also headed to Seattle after the Bucs talk to him about playing left tackle.

I'd put my money on Seattle right now.

The Browns are going to have to offer him LT money in order to keep him in the building.

Steinbach is only looking at cities located on the water. That is why Arizona fell out of the picture early. He likes boozing and cruising on his boat.

Heard yesterday on Sirius during Hagen's two minute update, that the Bucs may be in the front on obtaining his services as he was impressed with the new facility they are constructing down in Tampa! Go Bucs! :loco:

Seattle seems more interested in Deilman

If Steinbach wants to play LT, then the Browns should fly him to Tampa themselves. Steinbach sucked at LT and anyone who pays him LT money (particularly in this cash rich free agent market) is going to get robbed.

Move on to Dielman I say. We need a solid guard, not a crappy LT.

Steinbach to Browns confirmed by Clayton on ESPN7 yrs for 49.5 mill w/17 mill in guarantees
Serious?? ESPN also said Graham was signed by Denver. I'll hold out for true confirmation.
Yep. Clayton also reported that Dockery has signed with Buffalo for a similar deal - 7 yrs for 49 mill with 16 mill in guaranteesHe said the deal was finalized just 25-30 minutes ago. It was a Breaking News segmentHe also said Graham was NOT under contract with Denver
