Ernest Graham vs. Julius Jones (1 Viewer)

Who would you rather have and based on what?

Graham came out of nowhere last year. He played really well but last year was his only shot...he may not duplicate those stats.

Julius has at least seen some carries the past 4 years and is more in "game-shape". However, he may have some rb's taking carries from him whereas it seems Graham is the clear cut starter (also the possibility of Favre going to TB will only increase his stock.

What does everone think?

Jones showed next to nothing on a high-powered offense when given more than ample opportunities. I don't think Jones will fare any better with Seattle. Graham is the #1, or at least 1a in a good offense where he showed he will get catches as well as carries. I won't be drafting Jones unless he fall precipitously.

Graham just might wind up having Favre tossing the rock down there in Tampa bay, as well. That should create some opportunities for Graham that he might not have seen with Garcia. No disrespect intended for Garcia, of course. Favre has made a lot of people look good in his career, and I think if he has a year close to what he did last year, Graham could end up looking like a very nice option.

Attributing an opinion to an entire board is silly. However, I feel like I may have swayed some opionions when I started the Seattle Starting RB Thread a while ago. I'll continue to update it. I plan to pay particular attention to who gets the first series on Friday in their preseason opener. So far signs don't point to Jones winning the job outright and being a full time feature RB.

I'm just saying that the majority of people knock Cedric Benson and that Julius Jones gets the same negative attention it seems.

i don't think it's crazy to think julus could have a decent season, but it's graham by a wide margin here. i actually think their carry and yardage totals will be fairly similar, but graham should have significantly more TDs and recieving yards.

He will steal some receptions on third down passing situations, but he isn't built for the work at the stripe. Michael Bennett is six-years removed from his only 1,000-yard season. Caddy is a longshot to produce anything this year.

2. The offensive line is solid and improving.

3. Head coach Mike Holmgren has already had Julius Jones and Maurice Morris in his office and told them they would be involved in a timeshare. He even went so far as to suggest he could go with the player with the hot hand each week. Morris has averaged 4.3 ypc to Jones' 3.9 during their respective careers, so I'm not exactly convinced that Jones is a better option than Morris.

A majority of the board? Really? Hate? I'm going to vote you have nothing else to go with other than hyperbole and attitude to back up your incorrect assertion. I'm a Seattle homer. I would be thrilled to see Jones have a big year for the Seahawks, but it just don't sound like its going to happen based on what I'm reading from the Seattle beat reporters.

I had Graham last year and he did real well for me, look for that to continue. Jones has good value as your #3RB at best, and his value increases in PPR league, but not by much.

I like Jones as well, but the way the OP phrased the question, I think Graham is the no-braienr here. The only way that someone could pick Jones over Graham is if they think Caddy is strong enough to keep Graham on the bench. I don't think there are too many people riding the Cadillac Express anymore.

Everyone points to Graham being undervalued this year, and while I agree that Graham will be the primary ballhandler, and will be the inside the 10s guy, the presence of Dunn does warrant me to downgrade my enthusiasm over Graham despite his phenomenal year last year. While Dunn is over 30 and has his elite years behind him, he is still a back with phenomenal talent with his hands and his feet, a superb pass blocker, and a great veteran presence that TB needs.Gruden also loves this kind of back, as evidenced by his stint with Charlie Garner, another back who had similarly grat skills as a pass-catching back. Gruden wooed Garner to the Raiders after having worked together with him before in Philly. When Gruden moved to Tampa Bay, he wooed Garner again to the team in 2004 with (I beleive) a six year deal.Right now, it seems as if Graham's ADP is ~ RB20. If he slips past this tier, I do believe that Graham represents terrific value. But given Dunn's presence, around RB20, I might actually rather take a shot with a Thomas Jones or a Willie Parker.ETA: Would still take Graham over Jones though.
