ESPN fantasy stinks (1 Viewer)

They make you buy a live draft, but what they leave you with is a predraft that is horrible. I mean, I tried to rank the players according to our league scoring, and it would've taken about an hour, using their idiotic method of dragging and dropping players from place to place. You couldn't even sort by position. It was like they paid NO ATTENTION to what any other fantasy site out there was doing, and thought they could do it better without doing any research on how things are being done. BOY were they wrong. The interface is horrible the pre-draft ranking stuff was horrible, and now they can't even get the stuff working for the first week of the season? Horrible.

Got a reply.Dear Fantasy gamer, I want to let you know that everyone at ESPN.com shares your frustration with the early season technical problems with our Fantasy Football application. We have just fired Scott Engel in order to purchase extra servers for our fantasy gamers. So not only will you not have to endure his horrible opinions, but you will now be able to access your leagues more than once a week. We want to apologize to you for the problems we've had and assure you that we are doing everything in our power to solve them and provide an experience that the best, most passionate sports fans on the Web deserve. Again we appreciate that you are playing Fantasy Football with us and we will do everything possible to make this a terrific experience for you this season. Sincerely, Tim Hardaway

Surprisingly my 1 league that's run on Yahoo Plus was the best one. Stat tracker was working well all day. No probs at all.

CBS wasn't totally bad either. Just for a few moments.
:goodposting:

I am curious to know what you guys think of TSN's games (sportingnews.com) this year. They had 0 traffic problems, and real time stats is free for all games.

I say it every year...Surprisingly enough Yahoo's games run so smoothly. Site is fast, draft room works great and it is free. Great stuff.

Xpertsports.com has been great. Cheap and 100% functional from start of season to present. Hopefully you'll stay away to avoid it being bogged down in future years :) .
  Worth every penny. The customer service is first rate.

I'm in, too, and also got that e-mail. Here's what's posted re: waivers:"Waiver claims will be processed Thursday September 15th at 3:00 AM ET. This extension will give all players the opportunity to make claims. "Still don't have access to the free EDGE access they claim they have provided to me for the problems.

NO problems with CBS here :bye: :D
You get what you pay for, it seems. :banned:
CBS waivers didn't run for my league last night. Well, actually it went through and changed the draft order, but didn't make any transactions. Commish now has to find out everybody's waiver requests and do it manually. CBS still sucks.

TECHNICAL STUFFThe first thing people never seem to understand is that it is not as simple as throwing hardware at the problem. Most of the issues on FF manager sites revolve around improperly designed databases and business objects that can not handle the concurrent usage load they are under when everyone wants their scores and to set lineups at the same time.Unfortunately, the only way to learn about these problems is to load test your application (expensive and rarely done as you can see), or to wait for the masses to do it for you. Fixes can be a long time coming depending on if they can 1) locate the bottleneck 2) Actually come up with a proper performance fix for the issue. If your wondering how I know all this, I'll give you the FYI that I have made my living testing software for 15 years, with 6 years of specialization in automated Load and Performance testing. Basically, I prevent these types of things from happening to companies just like we have here.FF SITES REVIEW Sportsline - Might have worked this week, but they had load issues plenty the past 3 years. Plus at $150 vs. LESS or FREE they have a much lower user base than any other site. They have also had 3 years to fix these types of issues.MSN/FoxSports - MASSIVE performance issues leading up to week 1. They disabled features just to get the site stable. Any serious league had to bail for a pay site so they could get the rosters loaded and actually see a schedule. Better luck next year. Note that everyone quickly bashes Microsoft here, but this is developed by FoxSports so place your flame blame accordingly.ESPN - Already covered in this thread. Free = more load and ESPN was not prepared. A second thumbs down to ESPN for making just about everything interesting to read on their website pay content. I thought these guys were reports giving us the sports news - I guess not.MFL - Just too plain vanilla and not worth the $90. Even $75 with the FBG discount is too high for 4 months of data warehousing and server access for 10 users.xpertleagues - I like this site. I've never had any problems with this site. My owners hate the layout (Sorry Rad), but otherwise a quality product with no load issues.Fanball - 2 of my serious leagues moved here after the FoxSports meltdown (1 I run, 1 I play in). Everything worked perfectly for setup and week 1. At $50 it is the best bet IMO for value and performance.

Go ahead and throw eggs at me also, but CBS ran perfectly for us this weekend. Fanball screwed up the scoring all weekend, and their draft engine stinks. I wouldn't play anywhere else but CBS for serious leagues.

Go ahead..
We've been using CBS for six years now. It's had it's glitches in the past. However, it's normally a very, very good site. I experienced no glitches, bugs, etc in week one. It was up and running very fast. That could be because everyone that was on CBS last season went over to ESPN...so we're all by ourselves. Well worth the $10 or so each team pays each season to access the CBS site.

What do you mean 4 months of data warehousing? I still have access to all of last season's data and stats. As for the vanilla claim, look at the showcase leagues- that's more customization than you get with the more expensive Sportsline leagues.
