Sorry to post this here, but I find ESPN's literature confusing, and given that they have recently changed the setup for free-agency and waivers this year, I'm confused about how to explain the system to my league (I'm the commissioner) as well as set it up so that it does what we want.
We run a free-agency auction bidding system (FAAB, by ESPN parlance). Up until last year this meant daily auctions processed. Before we were on ESPN, I used to run this league where we had a weekly Free-Agency Auction Bidding process each week, followed by first-come / first-served pickups afterwards. I thought at first that this was what ESPN had switched to this year, and I was happy about that. But now I think I'm wrong.
We have always waited until week 1 to make additional roster moves post-auction draft. Our auction was two weeks ago. It appears that all of the players left over after the auction (free agents) are now off waivers and in turn can be picked up by anybody right now on a first-come / first-served basis. What I want is for all of those players to be subject to our weekly FA auction before they can be picked up. I have asked everybody in the league to hold off from picking anybody up for right now, but when our weekly free-agency auction begins, will all of the free agents be subject to that process, or is it the case that they are all available immediately for pickup and that only players on waivers can be auctioned?
This just seems so ridiculous. The whole point of a weekly free-agency auction is to take the first-come / first-served element out of the week's most desirable pickups. Adding first-come / first-served after that is ideal because it helps people making last-minute pickups on Sunday mornings. Is what I want possible? Basically, I want all of the current free-agents to be subject to bidding this week before they can simply be added. And I want each subsequent week to begin with an auction and end with FC/FS.
Thanks for any help. I'm used to MFL where I can do anything and ESPN is difficult to set up to my liking in comparison.
