I’m not knocking her. If she had participated and won gold I wouldn’t have put her near them
She has won 4 gold medals, 2 silver, and 1 bronze in the Olympics. And 30 world championship medals (23 gold). She is ****ing incredible and deserves to be very high on the best athlete list of the oast 25 years

Get ready for some LOLs.

I do like seeing Albert Pujols as the highest ranked baseball player

Aaron Rodgers 91st, though? That is awful.

Serena being ahead of the three stud men's tennis players is a joke, but I am sure they wanted a woman to be one of the top 2.

As usual, not much respect for hockey, with only three players on there.
Clickbait.

It looks like Ric Flair is upset that he wasn't on the top 100 list. LOL Leaving aside the fact that his best work was not in the 21st century, I am pretty sure they picked athletes from competitive sports, not athletes from a work with pre-determined outcomes.

But I needed a good laugh.

All I can offer Ric are his own words: If you don't like it, learn to *love* it.

No particular order within each line, but...

Tiger, Messi, Serena, Federer, Djokovic, Nadal, Lebron, Hamilton, Bolt, Tendulkar, Ronaldo, Curry, Mayweather, Marta, Sorenstam, etc (all time greats in ~worldwide and popular sports)

then...

Hakuho, Schiffrin, Biles, Brady, Ledecky, Phelps, Jimmie Johnson, Donald, Taurasi, etc (all time greats in ~more local or ~niche sports)

I'm sure I missed some and I'm sure ~local and ~worldwide and ~niche are open to interpretation, but that's how I'd think of them.
Tendulkar was great, but if basing it solely on what happened this century, I dont think he’s ahead of kohli. Though there are probably others that could be argued for
Those that think the greatest cricketer of the 21st century comes down to Kohli v Tendulkar have a heavy Indian Bias
Kohli may be a greater player than Tendulkar over the 21st century, but a dozen players from other countries have been better.
Kohli averages less than 50 in Test Cricket, the cornerstone for determining skill. Adding One Day cricket and T20 and yeah he has a better case.

Steve Smith from Australia has played a similar time span, has scored 1000 runs more and averages 8 runs an innings more at 56.6. And he was banned for a year in his prime
Kumar Sangakkara from Sri Lanka was a dream to watch bat. He averaged 1 run more than Smith at 57 AND was the wicketkeeper.
Jacques Kallis from South Africa was elite as a batter, and a pretty good bowler, making him the best all rounder this century. Averaging 55 with the bat and almost 300 wickets. He was a beast. Few all rounders can genuinely hold their place as a batter or bowler
Kane Williamson from New Zealand has held that side together for a long time. Averages 54
Mutthiah Muralidaran from Sri Lanka and Shane Warne from Australia rank #1 and 2 on the most test wickets list, but half their careers are on either side of 2000.
The recently retired Jimmy Anderson from England comes in at #3 on the all time wicket list. And hes a pace bowler. A bloody good one to still be bowling well into his 40s. Pure class
Adam Gilchrist from Australia was a game changer as a batting wicketkeeper. He could destroy a bowling lineup and deciding on him or Sangakkara is an impossible choice.
Plenty others warrant mentions, but hey lets consider Sebastian Janikowski instead

Cool

As I posted, imo her being higher than Bolt and Woods is silly 🤷🏻‍♂️

To be fair, anything an athlete did last century was not a factor in this, so Tiger Woods' first two majors were not relevant to his ranking here (it would have been five had they done this on the actual 21st century instead of starting it from the year 2000).

Messi should be 2. Serena at 2 is a joke.
Serena is the greatest women’s tennis player of all time and it isn't really close. Messi has a case for the GOAT of soccer and is in a bigger sport worldwide, so I could see the argument but it hardly a joke.
Is she? Graf ended up with one less major though Serena played in 81 majors to Graf's 54. Graf leads Serena in weeks at #1 (377 to 319), Titles (107 to 73), win percentage (89% to 85%), year end #1's (8 to 5). Serena played in 240 tournaments to Graf's 214. And while Serena had the non calendar year Grand Slam Graf actually won the Grand Slam and won the Olympics that year for the Golden Slam. Serena had 2 seasons where she dominated winning 3 of the four majors but Graf had 4 seasons (Other than the year she won all four).

If people want to say Serena is the women's best of all time I get the argument but not close is a statement that is absurd.

Serena at #2 is a joke as the top tennis player because the top tennis player should be Djokovic who has better accolades and had to climb over two all time legends in Nadal and Federer.

When I see the phrase "top 100 athletes" I see this more as evaluating the athletic ability and not necessarily factoring in the "wins" that much. Athleticism is more of a factor to me to be considered the "Best Athlete". But I understand it would skew to accolades, winning, etc.

Someone should come up with an AI contest where the optimum version of great athletes are all loaded into a simulator and run a "battle of the network stars" type competition to come up with the "Best Athlete" of all time.
