ESPN's 30 for 30- Buffalo Bills episode premieres 12/12 (2 Viewers)

I enjoyed the Laettner ep. Was not a huge fan of his at the time, but I was never a Duke hater either.

And looking back at his NBA stats just now, they were very respectable. He was not all-world at that level, but he was a productive starter for a long stretch. I was actually surprised to see he had a couple/few seasons averaging about 18 points and almost 9 rebounds per game. I did not remember him being quite that productive.

Did anybody see the new short about the Crazy Crab mascot in SF?? Holy hell. Just so many levels of fun. A mime? You ####### hired a mime??

Because seemingly everyone hated him and because he couldn't possibly live up to his college stature.

Anyone else watching this about the Bills? Pretty good. I missed the beginning though.
This is a great one. I'd forgotten a lot of the details and didn't know a lot about how Buffalo had embraced Norwood after the wide right.

ETA: Norwood sure is a weeper.

I like the Bills because they are embarrassing. I'm a born and raised Lions fan so that's just the kind of team I was raised to appreciate.

I would give that '85 Bears episode about a C+.

With all of the big personalities on that team, they should have easily filled two hours. I found myself looking at the clock after about 90 minutes.

I thought the Bears episode was great. It wasn't about the personalities, it was about the relationships. I thought the filmmakers did a great job capturing the camaraderie and love that these guys feel for each other (and for their coaches). And I fully admit that it got a little dusty in the room at the end of the film.

There definitely was some racial components to it during Laettner's run. You had the Fab Five in stark contrast to them and UNLV (who I personally think should get more credit for bringing hip hop culture and flair to the game before the Fab Five...but to hear Jalen tell it...they're basically the reason America listens to hip hop now).

Just watch that 30 for 30 with Jalen and tell me there wasn't a racial aspect to it?

Now though...it's just established to hate Duke.

But funny enough...if you look closely on this board...you'll see those same guys who typically hate Duke say, "I don't hate this group of current players as much as teams of the past." Maybe it's just coincidence that all the starters are black currently.

I'm anxious to see how those same guys respond when Grayson Allen is starting.
Just saw this article about Arcidiacono and some of the "hate" he's felt.

http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/ncaabk/villanovas-ryan-arcidiacono-says-he-gets-a-lot-of-hate-for-being-the-white-guy/ar-BBreA9B

Reminded me of this discussion.

Seriously...what is the deal with this nonsense towards white players?  I just don't understand all the vitriol.

I think the next one is about the Orlando Magic during the Shaq/Penny era.  Sounds promising.  It will be interesting to see how much, if at all, they go into the Webber/Penny trade.  I was at that draft when it was held in Michigan and people were going nuts when Webber was drafted to play alongside Shaq.  Twenty minutes later he was already traded for Penny and sent to the abyss of Golden State.  What could have been....
