Ethics question (1 Viewer)

I commish an ESPN league in which we use an IR slot. I currently have Felix Jones there. It is said that he will miss Sunday's game for sure, and one source has even ruled him out already. However, ESPN currently has him listed as "questionable" and so it will not allow me to make any roster moves. Someone just dropped the Steelers defense yesterday and I want to bid $5 to get them, dropping the Bengals defense.

Is it unethical to ask people if I manually add them to my team after waivers go through if I outbid the person (if anyone bid) who bids on them, and then delivering them back to the winning owner if Felix Jones is in fact not ruled out?

I would not say specifically that your are being unethical but when you have to resort to these kind of contortions to do a move it doesn't look to good; you being the commish just kinds of cements it for me. Would you really let another manager do this; I doubt it. As a commish you shouldn't be held to a higher standard but you should carry yourself to one. HTH.

You can't do this for yourself unless you've been doing it for others all season. If you want the league to work this way and it hasn't so far, you need to wait until next season to begin using this new rule.

I might not be unethical, but as the Commissioner you have to remain 'above the fray'. Play by the rules.

Felix Jones is not on IR. He should not (and apparently does not) qualify for an IR slot. Period.

Are the Cowboys talking about putting him on IR? What am I missing here? Do some leagues use the IR function for purposes other than IR?

Felix is not officially ruled as "out" yet. Once it's official, then you can make the move. As commish, these types of changes need to be made before the season starts, so consider them during the off-season.

If you're the real Tony Reali, have Wilbon & Kornheiser debate it!

Good night Canada....
