This stems out of another thread that started as a "How would you score this" to become an ethical debate. Thought I'd start it cleanly here with a fresh title.

1) If you notice that a game, not involving your team, that has been scored wrong enough to potentially impact the outcome, because of the software, or because of a discrepancy in rules, would you mention it?

a) Yes

b) No

2) If you were the original winner of the game, you notice the same problem that would give you a loss, would you mention it?

a) Yes

b) No

3) Would it matter if it were a regular season game or a playoff game?

4) If you were the Commisioner, and you were the original winner, but the scoring could change the result, would you mention it?

a) Yes

b) No

I answered these truthfully, and I'm not completely proud of my answers. It has made me think a bit...

Another ethical question...

In my dynasty league we have holdouts. I already know that J. Lewis gonna hold out on me. I pay him $3.50 now and he's gonna cost $13 next year. I've got a turd in my leauge who is close to giving me Colston for Lewis. Colston is getting paid 3 this year and 4 next. He's not aware of the potential holdout of JLew because he's not that into it.

Am I being a jerk or just taking advantage of a good situation?

Our rules say that the web site is the official score and a rule can only be changed by majority vote . So N/A

If you want to win both leagues then strategize. Bench somebody that you're going against in the other league and hope they do bad. Just be aware that if he outscores his replacement you very well could lost both.I would play the best players and hope for the best. Don't even think about the other league when setting your lineup. That would improve your chances at winning at least one league and if things go your way with the non-shared players you may get lucky and win them both.
N, N, N, Y, if I'm the commish its my duty to check ALL games for accuracy and in such i'd make it right, however if I'm not the commish i wont say a word unless it directly helps my team, thats why the commish is there.

How does a fantasy player hold out?Based on THAT answer - and how obvious it should be to this guy - I might think about it.But until I know how a hold out is determined, well, I can't say cause I've never heard of anything like it in Fantasy.

1. Yes and No- If the game effected my playoff chances, you bet I do. If it has no effect on me, then its up to the losing GM to spot it.2. No3. No4. Yes its better for the league to expose the mistake and fix it promptly then to expose itself to accusations of cheating.

1. Y, I would but I doubt I would see it. I don't check on other games.

2. Y, I have.

3. N

4. Y, Never in this situation but I wouldn't treat it any differently.

I guess I don't take FANTASY football as serious as some here. I play a lot of basketball so I guess I would compare it to the guy who won't call a foul on himself but calls fouls on the other team against him all the time (standard game of 'call your own fouls'). I really don't see the need to play bad defense and smack a guy on the arm and run the other way pretending like it was a clean play and in FF, I don't see why this is so important to hide a fact away from others even if it gives me a loss.

I actually cost myself a playoff win last year by pointing out a scoring discrepancy in my opponent's favor that swung the outcome. I will admit that I was pissed at myself afterwards, because that same opponent would NEVER have done the same for me. However, it is just a game and my ethics aren't worth losing over a game.

Mayvbe some peopel don't feel that way - and I am okay with that.

1. No, unless it helps the guy I'm rooting for.

2. No, not my job to correct the scoring.

3. No

4. No, because I wouldn't need to double-check the scores if I won. But, if the loser checks and raises the issue, then I would make the change and accept the loss.
