Didn't we have this same convo about Ryan Braun last year? Anybody who drafted him probably wasn't complaining. If you think Evan Longoria will be a beast draft him. If not then don't. It's just that simple.
I don't recall that, Braun stole bases and didn't strike out like Longoria. His batting average was due for a correction, but I don't think there was much question he'd bat below 285.
Braun's and Longorias Ks per ABs were almost equal in their respective rookie years.Braun .25 per AB (112 over 451 ABs)Longoria .27 per AB (122 over 448 ABs)And Longoria showed better plate discipline taking more walks than Braun did (46 - 29).
Braun's K rate has been lower than Longoria's his entire minor and major league career, it's the difference between a 290 hitter (Braun) and a 270 hitter (Longoria).
WrongLongoria 159Ks over 758 ABs (.203 per AB)Braun 151Ks over 767 ABs (.196 per AB)ETA Less than 1% is nothing to form a decision off of and a better walk rate to Longoria, again..... 96 to 70

:sadbanana: You keep pointing out Longoria's contact numbers are worse and telling me I'm wrong? Fine, Braun's career SLG - 588 (634 as a rook), Longoria's - 531

What you've pointed out before SLG%....you're technically right, but is it "right" enough to form a decision from? Hardly. They are essentially equals in every area you've stressed as important. If you want to now raise your "Braun being better than Longoria" flag on SLG%, since that's all that really left outside of looks, go right ahead. There's no argument there. Braun has better SLG % numbers at every level.

He also has a better BABIP so of the balls he puts in play more of them drop for base hits. Now, it's too early to see what Longoria's mean BABIP should be but after two full seasons of Braun his 330ish BABIP seems reasonable, which is 20 points higher than Longoria's rookie performance.

3b is deep, but no.

I would certainly take ARAM and AROD over him. From there, i'd be happy to get Beltre 13 rounds later.

I demand to see some crow eating in here.
He's had a really good month, no doubt. Would love to see him keep it up, love watching him play.Still, not eating any crow, my early round picks (Soriano, Utley, and Braun) have been great and my later round 3B (Reynolds) has turned a profit thus far too. Besides, it's been a month. If we're going to come to conclusions after a month of ball then Aaron Hill is a Hall of Famer and Jimmy Rollins belongs in Syracuse.

Rollins does belong in Syracuse. The people who took him in the first round or at the turn got what they deserve.

Player A 550 AB .273 AVG 89 R 30 HR 99 RBI 7 SB Player B 525 AB .260 AVG 85 R 28 HR 85 RBI 9 SBPlayer A costs a 2nd round pick, player B costs an 18th round. Which would you rather have?
Longoria's been great and all but I have to say I am loving player B on most of my rosters.
