Due to Labor Day Weekend and people's schedules, etc., one of my leagues always drafts the Friday after the first game. If you draft a guy who played Thursday it's treated as a bye. I hate it. It just seems wrong.

Yeah, let the points count. If some idiot wants to upgrade Culepper b/c he has a big game on opening night, let him. The market will respond to the new data, no big deal.

One of my leagues almost decided to draft after the first weekend due to conflicting vacation/work schedules. We wound up drafting the Sunday of the Hall of Fame weekend. More owners we less adverse to early than after week 1.

I don't see this as a problem. If someone would adjust their draft because of 1 game then they have problems. The points should count, but it should also not affect anyone's draft strategy.

Only exception being an injury

Did it in my league for a few years. What's the big deal if you know the points for a handful of players? Sucks to be the guy playing against whoever drafted Courtney Anderson a few years ago, but so what. Every team has a chance to draft him, and if you want to take him three rounds too early just because he had a good Thursday, be my guest.

I think it is idiotic to draft after a game has been played, especially if you count the points.

If some goofy backup goes off and scores a bunch of points, someone can pick him up and start him for that week. That's dumb.

That's basically why they don't count the points. You don't want someone starting Duckett over Edge because Duckett scored 2 TD's and had 125 yds in the Thurs game.My biggest problem is that we automatically draft after the first game. It wasn't just a one time thing due to a scheduling conflict. 99% of leagues draft by opening day. Let's at least make an effort to get it done. Thank for letting me vent.

One league of mine does it every year.

The rule that simplifies the situation on the players who played Thursday night:

If they are drafted into a starting role, they must be started. If they are drafted into a bench role, they must be benched.

So Courtney Alexander for example, must be benched if he is your second TE drafted and you start only one. An owner has the option of drafting him as a starting TE, but this uses up a much higher draft pick. The flipside is also true; if you draft Randy Moss as your first WR, you must start him, even though he had only 2 receptions for 23 yards.

This attempts to get back to what would have happened if knowledge of the Thursday game was not known. Seem corny, but it works.
