Ever get a bad feeling about a Commish early on? (1 Viewer)

Currently in a dynasty league where an owner approached the commissioner about taking over as commish (granted the commissioner was not active). Commissioner agrees to step aside and this owner takes over.

So fast forward to new commish taking over, we suddenly get 4 new league members (work as security officers alongside the commish -- guess they couldn't find a legit job). Be that as it may, in replacing the 4 owners -- he flat kicked out 2 owners that wanted to return for Year 3 (no issues of not paying -- solid active owners) -- no reason given for getting rid of them.

Next, we asked the commish several times to TURN OFF THE ABILITY TO SEE OWNER TRANSACTIONS (as many know on MFL...Commish can see all blind bids, trade offers, etc.....). Ironically enough, he only logs in to the "Commissioner" setting (never his team).

Finally this week, we get to see him change the Blind Bid waiver setting [unannounced] we've been using for the past 3 years -- now the Commish must approve the bids :lmao: Say what? It's like the guy desires some sort of power. Why else would you need to approve something that's been done by auto-processing the past 3 years?

What do you do here? Finish the year out and try to win or just leave now? The guy reeks of a grimy used cars salesman (which was probably his first job until he got canned and then had to become a security officer).

----------------

I happened to be in that dirty ball Aquil's President's Dynasty league in it's initial year. Had the same feeling. (Felt fishy activity amongst him and Allen Fern and parted ways). Unfortunately others were scammed out of thousands in Year 2. BTW go #### yourselves you two.

If unfamiliar with that delusional scam artist at FBG: http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=580273&st=0&p=12786384&hl=aquil&fromsearch=1entry12786384

I wouldn't have stayed in a dynasty league that forced out 2 good owners to make room for the commish's cronies. Your dirt ball detector needs recalibrating if it's taken this long for you to feel something's not right. I would definitely call him on the shady activity privately first, and then post it for the whole league to see if he continues. Hopefully you can at least guilt him into playing this season straight up. But I wouldn't come back for next season.

Ditto. If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and walks like a duck, chances are its a duck.

^Glad I'm not alone. At least if some shady #### goes down (I'm guessing by him and his 4 work buddies he added), that we have installed "Majority Approval" with LeagueSafe. :)

This guy seriously had to do NOTHING to let these league(s) run on their own. But had to intervene with his nonsense/lie about setting up waivers (when in reality it was already set up previously by the prior commish).

F-that. Is this a 12 man league? 8 on 4, go get your money back, find those 3 other guys + 1 and transfer the league over. You can save this dynasty league its still only week 1.

I commish a handful of leagues on MFL and I can tell you that I get asked to do so many things (often when I am out or working) that I have to use my phone to go onto the site and so I Do leave myself in commish mode a lot. So I can kinda get that part.

With that being said, I Do go out of my way to cummunicate everything I can, NOT change anything up, and only turn on the "commish can see" type abilities when I simply have to (there are some things you have to do that just make it simpler to manage the site with everything "on").

But, in any regard, there seems like there is enough there to fan a flame; especially a non-warranted removal of owners. that would make me distrust more than anything because, heck, I don't want to put a lot of time into a dynasty and have my team pulled for no reason. So I think you have enough to merit getting out.

hopefuly your money is tied up in Leaguesafe or somewhere and I am sure you could just set up the exact same league in MFL and plug in new owners. Its only Week 2 coming.

If you do decide to do that, PM me and I will assist if you need help with the Commish setup or I would even submit lineups for a team until you find a permanent owner.

Best of luck.

This guy sounds like a complete tool and you are now in a league with a tool and a tool's cronies. I'd get out asap and for the time being, probably would say something about him drastically changing the dynamic of the league and that those left over from the prior commish's tenure would appreciate a return to the parameters from then, as that was the league everybody assumed they were buying into.

This is exactly what you should do. Act now. Do not wait. Contact all owners, point out the activity, demand the commish to turn over commish rights to someone else, take the league back. If needed, you could set up an 8 team league and leave their players out until the end of year. That would give time to get new quality owners.

Sounds like you guys need to remove this guy asap. New league next year with old members minus this commish. Confront him as a group get the cash and commish privileges and move on

Great post ... I can't speak for everyone, but I frequent this site specifically to hear about commish problems.

This is a breath of fresh air. Thank You

I'm not really interested in commish issues, but it's nice to know that it's clearly titled and easy to avoid if I choose not to look at it.

I like the new discipline he's instilling into the league. Sounds like you guys were getting a little lax.
I know this is not a good post. It adds nothing to the conversation and usually I can't stand the silly, sarcastic remarks. But this made me choke on the drink I was trying to swallow as I read this.I know I've added nothing except to encourage the smart aleck. I'm leaving.

Something tells me you are not being completely honest

Lots of whining going on. Be a man, suck it up and play. I really don't see any problem besides the whining.
I did that in a league with similar shenanigans last season.Made it to the championship game and won by a narrow margin against "the commissioner's cousin".Glance into the league on Tuesday to see one of my studs benched in favor of one of my bench players to give his cousin the trophy. You're far better off just cutting your losses and running when a commish runs this far off the rails.Let him enjoy his power over nothing.

I don't play dynasty but in that format wouldn't this just get progressively worse? In redraft sure, suck it up and play out the year but I wouldn't waste my time in dynasty...

He's now announced he's reversing our waivers done last week. :lmao:Guess he saw some players claimed he now wants.
He is probably just cleaning up the mess you created as quickly as possible so you all can some good clean fun in weeks 2-17!You have to applaud a guy who is willing to jump right into a bad situation. Too many commish's just sit back and are afraid to exercise their authority for fear of being criticized.

This. As soon as this happened, he should have been approached by the other owners and given a reason. What happens next year - your team gets good so he kicks YOU out and takes over your team? Or maybe puts one of his "coworkers" in charge of it (for a cut of the winnings, of course).Nope. Sorry. When people are kicked out of dynasty league's for no reason, that's bad news. Wait until you see some of the "trades" he makes with the other three teams. I bet there will be some doozys.

First off, get the heck off your high horse. What's wrong with being a security guard? I know plenty of unemployed professionals from my school that rather loose their house then take a job they find beneath them. I'd rather have a rent-a-cop.Why would he reverse the waivers? I'm struggling to find a reason to ever do this.If you end up hanging on the final straw will come when he makes questionable trades among only his circle.

He reversed waivers because he missed out on players.

That would be the only reason I could think of. In a money league, I'd take mine and run.

Right that's what I think too, but what is the reasoning he's trying to feed the league? I can't think of a legit reason it would ever happen, unless you played on fanball last year. :lmao:

He reversed waivers because he missed out on players.
And even reversing waivers.....he still missed out on the players with people overbidding more than usual to acquire/reacquire players.I'd let you guys see the league ongoings....BUT his first order of business taking over as commish was to make it a 'private viewing' league. (Seem to recall Aquil doing the same with his league scam). --------------His reason for reversing waivers -- We haven't followed the normal "League Calendar" to date this year  (It carries over year-2-year on MFL as many know and we've used the same schedule for 3 years now) He just didn't remember that & missed out on guys on waivers. FWIW It was pretty amusing to see him going berserk when guys were getting picked up. Ironically enough, with every other league issue he references all rules that were set in place by the commish previous years  But those same rules don't apply to the League Calendar when he misses out on players :lmao:

Daily Update:

Commish dealt all his 2012 picks during our rookie draft. So in the last day or two, he adds (w/o telling anyone) the ability to deal 2013 picks!! (League Rules state you may only deal draft picks one year in advance). And today a deal goes down involving him :) When you don't have any other trade chips.....add some more!!!

Anyone familiar with working with MFL getting a commissioner removed?

Honestly, I don't think its just the commissioner you want gone. You want his hand-picked cronies gone as well most likely. So get a conversation going with the "good guys" in the league who feel similarly to you, and create a replica league of your own on MFL. Copy over your rosters, and then have a draft between the 4-5 new owners to pick the players from those 4-5 teams you're basically just replacing. Or hand them the teams as is, that's up to you. When its all done and correct, just quit the old league with an epic post on the league message board or MFL message board. This guy deserves an earful, and in case his cronies don't even know what he did, they need to hear it as well.

You should require him to deposit for that at the very least, so that he and his buddies don't bail and leave you guys high and dry.How did this guy's coup d'etat go? And why are you #####ing here as opposed to raising a stink about any of this?

In the end, you may be right. Dealing with this guy, I'm not sure I want to deal with anyone associated with him. Nothing has happened between them (yet). I have emailed the rest of the league to discuss.

I'm not sure how LeagueSafe works, but if it requires unanimous voting I would simply veto the entire existence of this league and demand that everyone get a refund.

You also screwed up when you let him kick people out, that was when the problem became obvious.

Rut-row sounds like a win now and bail strategy.
