Ever play in a league with 2 copies of each player? (1 Viewer)

I joined a dynasty league startup with 32 teams. To get around the problem of too few players, there are 2 of every player out there, so essentially it's like a 16 team league.

You can't own the same player twice though.

Any thoughts as to whether there would be any differences to strategy in a league like this?

BTW, we do have 3 spots left, but there is another thread for that here

Thanks for any help guys

I have played in a multi-conference league (commished it actually) although it was not 32 teams. I would say no difference to strategy. When player X plays against player X, they cancel out...and thats if your league even does inter-conference play during the season. Ours did not and only in the playoffs so that the final game of the year for each team they played a team from the other conference. Our championship game had zero common players and that league was 24 teams.

IMO, the best part about leagues like this is the payouts or the flexibility of the payouts.

I don't see why you can't own the same player twice (In the format OP described). I think that would add an element of strategy.

I would agree. i would think there would be MORE strategy in owning the same player twice, but it's not that big of a deal either way.

I'm in a league where you can't own the same player twice but have seen those where you can. My only peeve with our format right now is I would have two Chris Johnsons if it had been allowed - I had the 2 picks he was drafted at. No difference in strategy except when it comes to trades. The smart way to trade for a player you like is to see which is cheaper, assuming the owners are active. You also can't really take advantage of someone's man-crush unless 2 owners have the same crush.

I do a 10-team Playoff league (NFL playoffs) every year where each player can be drafted twice. It works very well & keeps teams from having to start players who may not even see the field. Same concept would apply to a 32-teamer.

Thanks for the info. Although it'd be nice to have 2 of the same player if they exploded, an injury would be "double trouble".

It's certainly a risk you take. I don't know that I'd want to double up with my starters or top players but for the fliers or risk/reward types I'm inclined to think it's a good move - if you hit you're golden.
