Exactly one week from kickoff (1 Viewer)

I think the one team that I am most anxioux to watch play is the Detroit Lions. There are so many story lines with them. Will Stafford play as well in the regular season as he has in pre-season? Will their defensive line be as disruptive as many are predicting? Will Calvin Johnson be targeted as often as fantasy owners think> Can Jahvid Best repeat his electric start to his rookie season?

A second item for me is to review the ownership stats in the FBG Contest. Will I identify some awesome players that are on few rosters? Will the large roster teams dominate?

What are you most excited about as the season is only one week away?

Watching Von Miller in action. Denver hasn't had a top-10 draft pick in 20 years, and has only had 3 top-10 draft picks in nearly 40 years (since 1973)- Chris Hinton in 1983, Mike Croel in 1991, and now Miller. I don't think it's exaggerating to say that Denver hasn't had a prospect this exciting on the team since John Elway.

Im interested in:

-Cowboys O-line vs. Jets D, yikes! ?????

-Felix

-as the OP said, the Lions. YES, the Lions. they dont seem to be the ultimate suck anymore. And I have Stafford and Calvin.

-Jacquizz

-Ingram

-FOOTBALL!!!!

That when I wake up tomorrow, its only 6 days away.

I think the CBA holdout actually has me more excited because I didnt have an interest in football since the draft until they signed the CBA.

That is an interesting post indeed. For you it seems to offer tremendous excitement about the prospects for Von Miller, yet even with Elway involved, as an outsider there doesn't seem to be much fanfare at all in Denver as a whole. Are folks there not happy with the Fox hiring? Does the Tebow craze impact the entire outlook?

I agree with this. I think that the delay getting everything going really has created even more excitement for the beginning of the season. On one hand, it seems like it has been two years since the super bowl and on the other, it seems like just a few days ago we were still talking about the CBA.

Honestly I'd be happy if they did FA like that every year.

How Ochocinco will make out in New England. Dude is giving me an ulcer.
I think that he will wind up doing better than currently thought by the majority, but agree that the constant reports of his struggles are difficult to listen to.Bumped up for the afternoon crowd - what are y'all excited about heading into week one of the season?

For my team, the Eagles, how well the defense plays (especially the linebackers) and if Vick is poised and can run the offense just as good as he did last year early in the season.

Fantasy wise I am looking closely at OChocinco as well. I think the guy is going to tear it up despite the negative reports, also want to see how MJD looks as well.

How Kolb looks and if the Bengals are as much as a train wreck as they appear to be. Also to see if Peyton actually misses a game.

On the fantasy side, while none of you care I am very excited to unleash for the 1st time in my dynasty the combo of AP and CJ2k

The quandry over whether Peyton Manning will play or not is sort of the same situation for me as to whether the CBA would get settled. Down deep, I just knew that they would get it settled and we would have football. Similar deal with Manning, you just know that he will play.I am also curious to see if the Cardinals chose wisely on Kevin Kolb. Only a year ago, he was expected to be ranked in the top ten QBs and now he is at Arizona with Fitsgerald and much less regarded.

In Manning's case, if he's not ready, I dont see why the wouldnt just trot him out their for a handoff the first play so he "started" and would keep his streak alive.

I truly hope that they do not do this. I realize that Manning has started some games down the stretch, where the game would not benfit or hurt his team as far as playoff positions were concerned and he sat after playing a short time.Sitting after a snap or two in the opening game would not be the same situation at all.

:goodposting: would cheapen the streak imo

I am going to have to disagree with that Steve - I think some were interested in the Kolb hype but I don't remember anyone saying he would be a Top 10 quarterback - although yes the talent was there but he was then (almost is now) a QB facing his first full season.I have seen him here and everything looks/sounds good. Guy is a great worker - gym rat type and lives and sleeps football (well not quite there is wifey) and despite learning a new language (Whiz' analogy and a good one) gets more and more every day. Has already built a great connection with Fitz and working hard with everyone on the team. All that said - he won't be a Top 12 quarterback this year - the O Line is not good enough, the running game isn't good enough and while I like Roberts and Doucet as young WR on the rise - they aren't there yet.Now in a year or two.....

Just looked up MFL's 2010 ADP and he went as the QB #9 at #70 overall. Those many folks were not drafting him at that spot hoping for the mid-teens.

Vegas Baby - have it all AND have it in Las Vegas
Hell yeah! Me too, I'll be in Vegas watching Thurs nite football at Caesar's with 200 other FF geeks. Awesome!
That sounds very inviting, might need to add this to my bucket list.
Steve, it's part of the FFPC held at Caesar's. Last year I met Dodds, Clayton Gray, Rudnicki there. Master of Ceremonies for the Q&A is Scott Atkins (Team Legacy here, Louisville Legends in HA leagues). I went last year and it was a good time. I can't speak for everyone, but I'm thrilled with the Fox hire. Tremendously underrated coach. I think the general mood about him is pretty strongly positive, too. And, of course, Denver fans love everything Elway touches, but it seems to me that he's actually taking his job as an exec very seriously, and he seems to be very qualified for it so far. The "Tebow thing" (that's what Brandon Lloyd calls it) really is crazy and overshadowing a lot of the team this year, though. I think it's much ado about nothing- everyone said Tebow would need time to develop coming in, and now they're declaring him a bust because he's not starting his second season. I seem to recall Aaron Rodgers looking like putrefying dog vomit during preseason of his second year, too. Tebow may wind up being the kind of bust his preseason performance suggests. He may wind up being the kind of quality QB his three starts last season suggested. The fact that he isn't the latter already does not automatically make him the former.I think the big lack of noise surrounding the Broncos is that I doubt they're really going to be that good this year. I'd predict a finish somewhere in the neighborhood of 6-10. I'm still excited to see them play, though- especially to see how that Dumervil/Miller pass rush looks when unleashed against actual NFL defenses. If Miller lives up to his hype, that duo might just be the best pass-rushing duo in the entire NFL, and a good passrush is the single biggest key to a good defense in today's modern passing NFL.

There's no one thing I can identify as the sole thing I am looking forward to the most. More than anything, I am looking forward to football being back in its four quarter form, with starters playing, with everything on the line. From a homer standpoint, I can't wait to watch the Carolina offense progress under Cam Newton and the exciting plays the rookie will come up with. I really want to see the Texans win the AFC South this year and I think that is a very real possibility. Which teams will disappoint? Which teams will surprise? It's the questions that I like to have answered.

And of course, dominating my fantasy leagues! :D

I was able to watch Newton once in person last season and he is an amazing athlete. I hope that he uses his feet to extend plays and excape out of bounds more than take on tacklers as he did at Auburn. I really think that he has the "it" factor and will be a really good NFL QB. Even though he was destroying my Razorbacks in the process, it was an amazing experience.
