F Taylor and MJD (1 Viewer)

The Jags has had a week to rest and fine tune their game plan.

Their rushing SOS doesn't let up until around wk 8.

Do you think that they lean toward the run more now or not?

I think changes will be made. MJD is too talented to not let him get involved. As for right now he is a huge bust, but I think that will change starting next week. If things look the same, its time to unload the hefty price tag, or try to trade for fillers.

Well, considering last week they fed MJD the ball on the ground 15 times, and he SUCKED, I think Freddy carries the load until he's dead. Oh, and Greg Jones will be the GL guy if Freddy doesn't get the carries. Heck MJD couldn't get going on DRAW plays!

I'm thinking about the same. I've been eyeing Fred Taylor on my WW for two weeks. Now that he's off his bye week, I'm debating picking him up in place of DWard as Jacobs is on his way back.

I've been scooping up MJD all over the place.

But its not for this week or changes to be made in the short term. Its for the end of the season weeks 12-17.

He will be #2 in Jax and get sporadic carries for the next two months. With occasional flashes of brilliance.

They want to know of he (you know) your girl because you hit the nail so on the head it saeems like you have some inside info!Seriously,I have watched the Jags games so far, and MJD has not looked very good at all. But It's not entirely his fault, the offensive line has looked very very bad.Taylor has only been decent so far. My guess is nothing changes and they continue to divvy things up near 50/50Which is too bad for a Fred Taylor owner.

I havent seen a defense respect the passing game of Jacksonville one iota. If Gerrard (and the line and WRs) can improve just a little each and they can continue to win, the chances for both RBs will change for the better.

Hmmm... deciphering your English, I think the answer is - I've already explained MY inside sources.

I agree that Taylor hasn't looked excellent so far, but he has been the clearly better back of the two. The first three games the carries were split nearly 50-50 (FT/MJD: 6/7, 16/11, 17/15) but MJD just isn't performing, and they won't continue to feed him if that continues.

a guy doesn't go from tearing up the league one year to sucking the following year all by himself.

why do SP'ers not look at players situations objectively? i'm mystified.

You're right, he had a bad game, they should cut him, and then go punch his mom in the face in front of him.
Yeah, I almost said that. Not! But the bottom line is, if MJD continues to underperform, there is no reason for them to feed him the ball more... They will give it to him less. Here's the best thing they could have done over the BYE week. Go back, look at last year's film, and see what made MJD so explosive. What are they doing differently now? Then fix it.The problem is, they aren't running plays any differently... some of the downfield blocking has suffered. But for the most part, MJD just isn't hitting holes, following blocks, exploding out of cuts like he did last year. Did he put on weight and that's slowing him down?Or is it really that teams simply weren't prepared for him last year, and now are? There is a tremendous amount of historical data which shows that a number of breakout rookies fall flat on their face the next year. MJD may just follow that trend, and it may be that Ds have simply figured him out.

For all his talent Fred Taylor has not exactly lit it up either. Until Garrard and the passing game prove that they can threaten a defense the running game will not be what it was last year. That said, I am sure defenses are more adept at breaking down the some of the problems the running game posed last year.

Fred was just dropped in my league (not sure why he was dropped in the first place, especially the week after his bye), but I can sure use him with Deuce and Jordan hurt. Not bad for an RB3/4 (Bush, K. Jones, Jordan).

Koetter is the OC and was something like 0-24 vs Ranked opponents at the college level.

He mentioned that MJD tore up his team on several occasions at the College Level...............which baffles me even more - why would he not exploit MJD's strengths instead of running him up the gut 10 times a game.

Carl Smith was the OC last year - he used MJD to perfection. All GL situations - sweep plays with a mix of some runs between the tackles and frequently passed the ball to MJD on screen plays.

MJD's only hope is if Koetter gets off of his high-horse and realizes he needs to run the ball.
