[Corner Backs]

Fabian Washington (Age - 23) (Under Contract Through - 2009)

Nnamdi Asomugha (Age - 25) (Under Contract Through - 2008)

Stanford Routt (Age - 23) (Under Contract Through - 2009)

[safeties]

Michael Huff (Age - 23) (Under Contract Through - 2010)

Stuart Schweigert (Age - 25) (Under Contract Through - 2009)

[Linebackers]

Kirk Morrison (Age - 24) (Under Contract Through - 2009)

Thomas Howard (Age - 23) (Under Contract Through - ???)

Sam Williams (Age - 26) (Under Contract Through - 2007)

[DE]

Derrick Burgess (Age - 28) (Under Contract Through - 2009)

Tyler Brayton (Age - 27) (Under Contract Through - 2008)

[DT]

Warren Sapp (Age - 34) (Under Contract Through - 2010)

Terdell Sants (Age - 27) (Under Contract Through - FA)

Tommy Kelley (Age - 25) (Under Contract Through - FA)

Antajj Hawthorne (Age - 25) (Under Contract Through - FA)

DT stands out as any area they will have to address this offseason. I would guess they will resign two of the three FAs and let someone go, but I am not sure who the odd man out will be.

Not a Raiders fan by any means, but THIS is where they should (re)build their foundation. Their defense showed some flashes of brilliance this year. Sure, they had some blowouts and gave up a lot of points, but they kept their team in games a number of times this year. If they are indeed that young overall, I'd build around that. It's worked for the Bears, so why not Oakland? The Bears for quite a few years have had that stout defense, but lacking in offense. They are slowly working on that offense, and it's starting to show signs of life. I don't see why this couldn't work for Oakland.Keep working on that OL, that can't seem to block my grandmother. Unload Moss and Porter any way you can. Totally redo your QBs (Tui, Brooks, and Walters all suck). Will take a few years, but I think they can do it. Focus primarily on that offense the next few drafts/FAs, look for those young diamonds-in-the-rough on defense to plug the holes left by the old farts that need to move on (*cough* Sapp *cough*).It could happen...

Great post about the Def there Garrett! I knew the D was young, but I like what I see there.

As for the Shell situation, I can't see Davis firing Shell here. As previous posters have mentioned, maybe Davis will move Shell into a different role but I think he will be with the Raiders organization in 2007.

Davis fired Shell too early the last time Shell was the coach of the Raiders. I can't see Davis doing that again.

Currey is a fine #2. Lamont Jordan is solid at RB as well. With a top 3 pick this year, I think you gotta go Brady Quinn, Joe Thomas, Calvin Johnson in that order.

Any which way, another offensive piece will be in place this year. The line needs major help even if they draft Joe Thomas. As for Brooks, Walters, Tuo not being the guys. The only guy I would take out for sure is Tuo, he's had his chances. The other two have been on their asses more than they have been standing up. Brooks will be gone just cause he's expendable.

But something the Raiders could look into is drafting Joe Thomas , and then going after Leftwich or Matt Shaub. I personally would go after Leftwich. Trade them Porter and a pick for Leftwich if possible.

Having Jordan, Randy Moss, Ron Curry, Leftwich as your starters along with drafting Joe Thomas. Another big name OL through free agency and you got the makings of a solid OL. A left or right side of Joe Thomas and Gallery should be awesome for their run game. But that also means biting the bullet on Gallery and moving him inside to Guard. The tackle experiment is over. A true pass catching TE in the 3rd maybe, although that's not a huge need, you've got a rebuilt offense that's ready to compete next year.

Well, it appears Oakland will have either the 1st or 2nd overall pick (this isn't really news), but, to be exact, the only way Oakland can move to number one overall is if the Lions beat Dallas and Oakland loses or if Oakland's SOS value decreases over the weekend. Oakland currently has a 4 game advantage (disadvantage?) in SOS. Although, teams like the Vikings losing (played Detroit twice) could change the tide enough to give Detroit a better SOS and move Oakland to the number one spot.

There is a lot of chatter right now about Sarkisian being next Oakland Raiders HC. Given their options, I think this is a pretty good move. If this pans out, I will be very interested to see what their plans are at QB.
