The management of Fanball.com has determined to cease operations, effective as of June 30, 2011. Commissioner, Draft & Play, and Challenge games already in progress for NBA, NHL and NFL will continue to their conclusion. Prize payouts for the NBA, NHL and NFL games already in progress will be honored according to Fanball game rules. Fanball.com will not initiate new games for the NBA playoffs, the NHL playoffs or any other sports, and will promptly send a refund to customers of entry fees for 2011 PGA Tour Trade 1 and PGA Tour Trade 2.Please visit the My Account page on www.fanball.com in order to ensure that Fanball.com has your current address for sending any disbursements.
My dad, uncle and I have been playing Fanball (formerly CDM sports) baseball challenge games together for the past 10 years. My dad's been playing for 20 years. I always do a football entry with him as well. This sucks. Anybody else around here play their challenge games? Anybody know of any other options for this style of game?

I asked the same question on the main board.Loved the challenge games. Played baseball, football, nascar, and golf.

I've played CDM/Fanball since 1998. Huge fan of the challenge games in baseball and football. I'm devastated that they are gone. What were your team names over there? Maybe some familiar "faces"...

As far as finding a way to keep the challenges alive, e-mail formerfanballplayers@gmail.com. That's Diesel from the FB challenge, and he's compiling a list of CDM/Fanball players and trying to keep us all organized. I think he's over 200 people on the list now.

Sounds like Fantrax.com is trying to set up challenges like the baseball challenges so that we'll have something to play this year. More details will be available soon I'm sure.

I was always Go Knights in Budget Baseball. My dad's been Titletown in baseball and football since before the internet days when he made transactions over the phone.ETA: I'll be sure to email that addy and get added to the list when I get home. Thanks for the heads up. :useless:

Although the overall prizes are taking quite a hit, I do really like the proposed league payouts and the price points for entry. Hopefully they get this off the ground.
Is this game ever going to go live?Fanball had sign-ups ready right about the the time of the NFL Conference championships.

Starting to wonder myself. They didn't start creating this game until the news that Fanball was going under, so really they're only 6 weeks into the process. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt getting their system set up, but they are starting to reach a critical level in terms of sign-ups. We're 5 weeks from opening day.

Registrations are now open, if you guys didn't already know...

Signed up and ready to go. Have you tinkered with the salaries yet? They're much more difficult than the ones Fanball put out. In fact, they may be tougher than any set CDM ever put out. I also think their points salaries are harder than their roto salaries. Given the bench flexibility and the increase toughness of salaries, this could be a completely different game.

I just play the points league, but yeah the salaries are TOUGH. Far fewer of the stand-out cheap guys that you just have to have to compete. When you combine that with the bench flexibility, we're going to see A LOT more variation in team make-up from team to team than we have in the past. It's going to be interesting to see how it all plays out, that's for sure.

Agreed, I think there will only be a handful of players that break the 60% owned threshold.

So far, Mitch Moreland and Jake Peavy are the two cheapies that are standouts.Peavy has to demonstrate consistent health but so far so good.

In case you guys weren't aware, looks like Charlie Wiegert (one of Carol Matthew's original partners and the creator of the Diamond Challenge) has put a group together to purchase the challenge games from Fanball. They are now live at CDMSports.com. Problem is, they've dropped the budget game and Fantrax is kicking their butt in cost/payout ratio.
