Fanduel/Draftkings Week 15 (1 Viewer)

It's been mentioned, so I'll add to it.

They're giving money away in the NBA daily. Find someone that follows the game and trail them. I'm pounding NBA 50/50s following my brother, who is a hoops junkie.

If you are willing to move quick, especially on late injuries, you can kill it.

And you can get paid every day.
Can I have your brother's phone number please :D

Or, does anyone know of a good daily fantasy basketball content provider? What's the BasketBallGuys equivalent?

I think RotoGrinders is popular... but it's expensive and I don't know how good the content is. Their NFL content is pretty good.

I have been playing a bit in the NBA the last few days trying to get the hang of it when football is over. I have no idea who is who in the NBA, so we should get a thread going somewhere once football season is over to help each other out.

The Titan's RB situation is pretty messy right now. Even messier than Jacksonville's.
Can you tell me why you like Hurns so much more than Lee/Shorts/Washington/Wright on Thurs?
In Jacksonville, Hurns, Shorts, and Lee have all gotten similar targets lately (31, 32, 30 over the last four weeks, respectively). I like Hurns better than the others because he's been a big-play guy all year and is much more likely to find the end zone than the other Jags' receivers are (IMO). I would like Wright a lot better if he weren't looking at playing in a splint (assuming he plays at all). And the Titans' passing offense in general is in shambles.

I have been going to Rotogrinders and reading their articles. I haven't signed up for the premium yet, but have been thinking about it. Would have to win a lot of $1-2 matchups to cover the cost though. Although once I got comfortable I could step up to the $5, just a little afraid to throw too much money away until I figure out what I am doing. It is looking like you need at least 275 points a night to cash in a 50/50 though.

I'm in. Perhaps the FFA for this one?

This is my first year playing DFS. I began the year playing Fanduel only, and about half way through started playing Draftkings also. I've had similar success in cash games between the two sites, but have had a great deal more success in GPPs on Draftkings.

Do you guys have any different strategy between the two sites?

I would suggest adding this to the General Strategy thread.

I have been told by multiple people that basketballmonster.com is the FBG-like place for basketball info. Just passing on what I have heard.

theFakebasketball.com is good.

Rotogrinders.com incentives are WELL worth it though.

I also do a blog on Mon-Wed-Fri and Saturdays listing some cash plays, which can be found on Rotogrinders.com

NBA has been very good to me this year. I find it pretty easy to cash consistently barring injuries. However, be prepared to be sitting at your computer until tip off, watching twitter in case there are last minute benchings/news.

It's nothing like the NFL where they list injuries. Sometimes you don't know a guy isn't playing until after tip off.

NBA Fanduel thread exists in the FFA. I'll bump it if it hasn't been already. We messed around in there the past year or two. Personally, I had some successful runs with NHL and NBA, but have concentrated only on NFL this season.

When NFL dies down, there are alot of people that don't know what to do with themselves and have to have action. I compare it to (although not on the same extreme) Xmas evening when all the kids get Call of Duty and you've already been playing it for 1-2 months. You ####### own them. The little kids won't get as lucky as many DFSers who know how to manipulate data and have many sources to use, but the post-NFL surge exists.

I also suggest LuDawgs.com. Forum like this one with regular posters in the Daily threads. Every day gets a new thread. Sometimes it is 30 posts long, sometimes 80 posts, just depends, but usually can find good real time info there.

NBA Fanduel thread. (Can always start a new/fresh one)

Was at the Knicks game last night, and JR smith was "starting" and then, he didn't play due to injury. The NFL has a good thing where you know that stuff about an hour prior to kickoff.

LOL at the COD reference... what we need to do is use the last few weeks of the NFL season to 'sample' NBA and thus avoid being Christmas-noobs ourselves.

This has been my biggest annoyance in NBA dailies. I often don't have the time to sit in front a computer trolling for last minute news. I would say 1/3 to 1/2 of my entries this season have been affected by someone sitting due to a day off, or random injury or illness before/early in the game, or a player coming back a day or two sooner than expected.

Maybe we can talk FBG into starting an NBA forum so it won't get lost in the FFA ;)

I have had good luck using your article as the core for the few teams I have done. Thank you.

Two zero franchises in a rain storm, and I can't wait, because I have Bennett, Forte, and Wilson playing to make me money. Daily Fantasy=Better than old school.

Honestly man. I had a bye in 6 of 7 year-longs I played (down from 11 total leagues last year, bc I wanted to devote more time to DFS) and gonna lose in 3 because of a a few top notch players I had that didn't live up to their weekly norm. The amount I'd win in all the leagues combined aren't even equal to what I cash in a week in NFL DFS.

Scrolling through all the players available in each league every Tues night for waivers, (and then subsequent nights to see who else was dropped), sending out trades that don't even get looked at, looking at your matchup in each year-long, the time just isn't worth it.

I'll keep a couple leagues with friends because in-person drafts are so much fun, and we do point prizes, but DFS all the way from here on out.

Can I request that some of you guys in $10+ doubles, triples, and quints post the minimum score needed to cash in each this week? I'll post all of mine, which are all $2 and $5. I'll include the size of each as well. I know it's way late in the season but I think crowd sourcing that data might be useful on down the road, at least for how to allocate our action.

40 person Draft Kings 50/50 I played Manziel (2.5 points), Stewart (7.9). Marq Lee (5.4), Hilton (9.0) and am 8th place at Monday Night halftime.

Studs and Duds

The Bears scores gave me a few extra in winnings. Being so close to some cut lines I hope this ends quickly tho.

Anyone look at the Thu-Sat crapfest of games? Wow

2nd best lineup of the week for me was that damn freeroll lineup again. Becoming a common theme for me.

Who's bayshorebob? We've been doing some work in my ESS leagues.

Won $250 this week.

Anderson/Beckham/Dez seemed like a popular cashing combo, with Jeremy Hill big as well, especially his low percentage of ownership.

Here are my double-ups, triple-ups, and quintuple-ups for this past week, with pertinent information. All are single-entries.

Thursday:

$2 Double-ups (558 entries in each) – 116.4, 113.68, 124.98

$5 Double-ups (223 entries in each) – 123.8, 123.58, 114.28

$5 Triple-ups (201 entries in each) – 123.78, 123.3

$5 Quintuple-up (223 entries) – 125.66

Friday:

$2 Double-ups (1116 entries in each) – 121.9, 121.78, 123.28, 120.4

$5 Double-ups (670 entries in each) – 124.8, 127.98, 126.78, 126.08, 126.88, 127.58, 128.48, 124.98

$2 Triple-ups (502 entries in each) – 129.88, 131.18, 128.38, 127.78, 122.98,

$5 Triple-ups (402 entries in each) – 126.98, 129.1, 131.1, 130.68, 128.28, 127.78

$5 Quintuple-ups (335 entries in each) – 137.8, 130.8, 132.5

I did horribly this week in my opinion, and yet it wasn't that bad, my first week playing a bunch of low cash matchups. Only lost a few bucks and might make that up with the Mon/Thu which is looking good. Considering all the poor options I made and that I'm not used to the cash game, and scores are so low to cash in 50/50 and H2H, I think it gives me some incentive to try to get good at the cash game next season.

Next week, week 16. I think I want to either win or lose. I don't play for much and don't think I want to have played all year to break even. I think it's all or nothing next week.

Well that garbage time outburst from Jeffery cost me the title in a regular league (and $400) on a frigging tie-breaker. Ain't that a #####. And it cost me a bit on FD as well. I had a perfect 35-0 record in cash games (including quints) until that little performance. I finished 32-3 in cash games. 1 lineup (my Anderson lineup of all things) was bumped out of a double-up by 0.7, a triple-up by 0.5, and a quintuple-up by 4.7. I was also the last man cashing in 2 other triple-ups with that lineup. My GPPs were a flawless 0-8 (0-10 if you include the 2 dummy lineups I never got swapped out Thursday night). Still a 91.2% return. I can't complain, except that 2 minutes earlier it was a 118.5% return.

lol. I lost a regular season matchup because Ingram scored, and I had Ingram! I was txting my buddy "I'm going to lose he didn't go down" Sure enough I did. Opponent had Cutler/Jeffrey.

Up 1K on FD this week, Apparently I had a bunch of JFF lineups that scored 121/122 that didn't cash in a bunch of cash games. Looks like I missed by 1-2pts.

Biggest week on DK for me. +600 hitting some GPPs. ~100% return.

Let's kill these last few weeks guys. Randle/Hill in all my lineups!

Big week in the end. Cashed in 80%+ of cash games on FD and cashed in all 3 GPPs. Only played 2 lineups on DK in the millions GPP, cashed both and won both entries on Fantasy Draft including a $300 payday in the $25 GPP.

It is annoying the the winning entry for the mil on DK(congrats dinkpiece) was made up of players I started, but split between my two lineups(except D. Allen). My Eli line up was almost exactly the winning entry an hour before kickoff. A few changes later and it was worth $50.

Ended up "only" losing $7 out of the $25 so not as bad as it was looking.. If Forte had done anything I might have actually won some money..

Best lineup scored 153.98 and was the first one I entered last week... but wimped out and only used it once :wall:

Derek Anderson
Le'Veon Bell
Matt Forte
Kelvin Benjamin
Odell Beckham Jr.
Marquess Wilson
Travis Kelce
Connor Barth
Seattle Seahawks

Pretty nice week, wagered about $550 and cashed about as much. Waiting to get the updated excel to calculate totals.

Here are crazy results:

Thursday games, including that stinker on Thursday which I faded entirely. In one lineup, I put up 119 points, which was right around the cutoff for 50/50s:

Did NOT cash in 9 x $1 and $2 50/50s, where the score was 122-124

DID cash in 6 x 50/50s

Did NOT cash in 8x $2 multi-entry Doubles

DID cash in the single entry Double

...the crazy part... DID cash in both Thursday Dive GPPs... where the cutoff score was 118. So, the Thursday score required to cash in the cheapest cash games was HIGHER than the score required to cash in the 18% payout GPP.

Has anyone ever seen that?

anyone have any luck in the 10 team leagues? for whatever reason, I keep cashing in on $25 10 team leagues. Came in first 3 weeks in a row for $112.50 win. I know they're low percentage but I'm having some luck.

Sunday-Monday

$5 Triple Up (3409 players) - 124.6

$10 Triple Up (1703 players) - 128.8

$10 Quintuple Up (2840 players) - 131.8

$25 Double Up (50 players) - 125

$25 Triple Up (1090 players) - 126.8,

$25 Quintuple Up (1590 players) - 132.98

Question:

Does anyone know of a way to purchase insurance on daily fantasy winnings? Say for example you are leading the Sunday million at halftime of the Monday night game but it's basically a coinflip if you win or not. And the payout returns diminish quickly as you move from 1st to 5th etc. Is there a way to trade upside for guaranteed winnings?

Crunched the numbers:

$552 wagered, $1014 won, for a profit of $462 and a return of about 83%. Hit another milestone... now above $1500 after starting at $250... 6x baby!

Draftkings... sitting on $433 after starting at $250, but that's including $66 of a bonus (only 'earned' $66 out of $250). Think I'm going to withdraw that and call it a nice little experiment.

Also had some nice beginners luck in NBA - played two lineups, ran a clean-sweep to win $26 on $11 wagered (won 50/50s, 2x H2H, Double, and even cashed in the $1 tourneys). Kevin love was a BEAST with 58 points.

I'm not sure who would insure something like that.

If you're near the top going into SNF or something, you might try to hedge by creating some high-stakes lineups featuring the players that are on your opponents' rosters, something like that. But that's not a great option, and by halftime of MNF that's not an option at all.

I'm not a gambler, but I think I've seen sportsbooks offer player prop bets based on stats - that would be a better way to try to lock in profits if they're available.
