Turned $14 into $63 this week, finished in the money in 3 of 5 games.

Won $40 in a $5 Sun only tourney (finished 4th out of 100. I was in 2nd place for $75 going into SNF, Cruz and McCoy knocked me down 2 spots)

Won $9 in a $5 50/50 (finished 16th out of 50)

Won $14 in a $2 tourney (finished 70th out of 2790)

Did not place in another $2 tourney and a free roll.

Not bad, Ill take it.

New strategy successfully found. After copying the lineups and suggestions of the guys kiling it here only to get crushed, I gave the keys to a couple of 14 yo who don't play fantasy football. Their lineup netted 4th of 50 for a win.

If people used my lineups in their 50/50's they should have banked some coinage. Roster 1 ($60K) scored 128.86 and won in every 50/50 I had it entered. Some were pretty close though so it could have faltered in some contests. Roster 2 ($55K) scored 172.86 (This would have been good enough for 3rd place in the FBG Championship). Had you switched out Doug Martin for someone like Arian Foster with your extra $5K you would have won a seat. It crushed all the 50/50s it was in. Roster 3 ($55K) scored 138.86 and should have won all 50/50's entered (It did for me). Roster 4 ($55K) scored 119.36 and should have been competitive in most 50/50s.

I finished 12 for 13 in 50/50s this week (and won nearly $400). I personally prefer the $55K contests as I think they favor skill a bit more since you can't stack your roster with many super elite players. Unfortunately less people play this format though .

Some observations:

I think the 20 and 50 man 50/50s are WAY EASIER that the 10 man ones. This makes sense as the the number of professional entries are likely reduced in the bigger events (as FanDuel only allows you one entry per contest)

I think Heads Up is a sucker's play. The people playing heads up tend to be the very best players on FanDuel.

Creating a heads up contest is nearly a guarantee that a pro will gobble up your challenge.

They have significantly more variance, but tournaments with less than 100 people probably give the best bang for the buck. But similar to poker tournaments, you might lose a lot before you have a significant pay day.

My money scores were 119 (50 player 50/50), 158 (2700 player tourney), 153 (100 player tourney).

In 2 other tourneys (500 and 2700 players), scores of 141 and 145 missed the money.

So yeah, 50/50s seem to be the best shot at easy money. As far as 50/50 goes, I like the 50 player games the best.

How many contests a week do you play? What price point?

won 1 got crushed in my other 3. Still have an outside shot but need a miracle. Tried something different and it didn't work out.

So I'm down 16 this week but up 11 total ..... :banned:

Once again my main lineup was good enough to place in the 50/50s, but I lost every other entry. I'll finish down about 10% this week across fanduel and draftstreet. Sticking to the 50/50s only next week if it's the last thing I do.

Went down in flames this week & dropped about $100. Lost every contest I entered (a bunch of $1-$5 tourneys & 50/50s).

Note to self: Starting a couple of bagain RBs (Leshoure & Martin) to load up on WR studs (Calvin & Julio) doesn't always work out so well.. :kicksrock:

Still have $45 to play with from my initial $25 deposit, but my thought to use these contests as my investment strategy might have to be reconsidered.

On the whole, I still got $100 worth of enjoyment from combing over the lineups. This site is like crack for me.

Early thoughts on guys I like:

QBs

RG3 won me a lot of money the last two weeks. He is getting up there at $8.9. Will likely look elsewhere.

Schaub $7.2

Ponder $6.9

Hill $5.8

RBs

M Bush $6.7

Benson $6.9

Will check the Bills situation as the week progresses. Their line is great.

WRs

Megatron and AJ Green obviously

Harvin $6.7

I will likely spend a lot of my money on WR this week

TEs

Celek $5.4
I think that's whats been killing me. I've been getting decent WR's (Wayne, S. Johnson, etc.) but haven't had any high value studs. I think I need to spend more on WR's going forward.
I played for the first time ever last week and finished 10th out of 2790 spending big on RBs (A. Foster and MJD). I mention it because I actually started the exact 2 WRs you mentioned, Stevie Johnson and Reggie Wayne, along with AJ Green. Forced me to go cheap at QB (Dalton) and TE (Pitta), but I think it is a bit easier to play matchups with the QB than other positions (though I could be wrong about that and just got lucky). Just seems to me like it is really risky trying to play matchups at RB with lesser talents when you can play matchups with the RB studs and get 2 really top notch guys going against bad defenses.I think I like the general strategy of getting 2 pretty sure things at RB, 1 stud at WR and then trying to play matchups and find bargains at QB/TE.

I'm probably in the minority from reading some of these threads, but I also think it is worth it to pay the little bit extra and get the best D possible. I had the Bears last week even though they were the most expensive. Doesn't make much sense to me to try to go cheap at a position like Defense because there is very little price difference between the best matchups and the worst....maybe I'm missing something on that though.
After saying I like the idea of going cheap at QB, I ended up going against my own strategy and spent big for Aaron Rodgers. My 1st crack at a 60k lineup for this weekend:Aaron Rodgers- 9,400

Arian Foster- 9,600

Jamaal Charles- 7,800

Jordy Nelson- 6,700

Pierre Garcon- 5,600

Torrey Smith- 5,600

Dennis Pitta- 5,000

Blair Walsh- 5,000

Ravens D- 5,200

I'll have to monitor the news on Garcon, but if healthy he's a nice bargain.

I like the Ravens passing game against the Browns with both Pitta and Torrey Smith looking like nice values. Haden's out still and the Browns CBs are slow and mediocre. I watched live as the Bengals WRs beat them deep all day and they don't have Torrey's speed. Browns are also giving a ton of playing time to some undrafted rookies at LB, so I will continue to roll with Pitta as he is still really cheap for some reason. I also think the Ravens veteran D could make Weeden's life pretty miserable and generate some turnovers and sacks, so I will pay the slight premium to get the great matchup of the Ravens at home against a turnover prone rookie QB.

Went against my cheap QB strategy that I just espoused 15 minutes ago and decided to go with Aaron Rodgers. I think the Packers offense is due for a huge breakout passing game, especially since they will have to score to beat the Saints and the fact that the Saints D looks terrible. Went with Jordy due to that same reasoning. Feels like a 4 TD type of game from Rodgers and I think Jordy will get at least 1 of them and maybe even two.

Even after splurging for Rodgers, was still able to save enough money to get 2 big-time RBs with pretty attractive matchups. Charles at home against a decent SD defense. Should get a ton of touches with Hillis banged up and he looks great. Rolling with A. Foster again even though the cost is steep. He's just such a sure thing for a good day and he also has an upside few can match, with the possibility of a 3 TD type of day not at all unrealistic.

(I also thought some of the guys in the Det-Min matchup were very nice values. Neither of those Ds is very good against the pass and playing indoors on the fast turf in Detroit, I could see guys like Harvin, Rudolph, Ponder, Megatron, Hill/Stafford, etc. all having big days. If I'd have stuck to my cheap QB strategy, Ponder would have been my guy.)
I don't understand why you guys post your full line ups. Aren't you afraid of someone putting in the same exact line up (assuming it's a larger tourney)?
Speaking only for myself, I deposited $25 before the season just for something fun to do and tried it for the first time last week. I'm no expert. Also, I'm not really looking at it as a big, serious financial investment. Just something interesting to talk about and hopefully at the end of the year I still have some money left in my account. If someone copies my lineup and we end up splitting a prize, I'd be totally cool with it. (In case anyone is actually putting same lineups in, I swapped Garcon for Colston).
So far I'm 39th out of 2,790 with this lineup (156 points), though I assume some people still have Monday nighters out there so I could fall a few spots after tonight.I'm really regretting Pitta as his zero killed me this week. He did have the play where he should have had a TD but slipped, but the Browns young LBs also did a very good job on him. I have been pretty close to the big money with a better TE play....

The problem with the contests with that many players is that there are so many similar lineups and scores are so close, youll probably lose more than a few spots tonight. Last night I was in the money in one of those 2790 player leagues at 220th place going into SNF. By the time the game was over, I was 315th and well out of the money.By comparison, in a 100 player tourney, I went into SNF in 2nd place, and only lost 2 places by the end of the game.Just a little food for thought going forward.

My highest score was 189.06 :excited: and second highest was 165.56 and another one with 164.54

I would have won the FFFC qualifier with that lineup, only seen 4 other lineups with higher scores out of over 20,000+ lineups

Aaron Rodgers, Foster, Jordy Nelson, Demaryius Thomas, Brian Hartline  Owen Daniels, Matt Bryant, Houston Texans --- was my big winner for 189.06 Won $470 with that lineup from a $4 invested

I entered that lineup into 2 large tournys (2700+ entries) and won 2nd, 3rd in one contest and 4th in the other tourny. I entered the same lineup twice into one of those tournys and it got the 2nd and 3rd place... I was in first and second until Marshall had that TD.
