Fantasy Football Podcasts (1 Viewer)

This week was another of the especially bad ones where Bloom sounds like he's pacing back and forth while talking, and thus only intermittently in front of his mic.  Listening hands-free while driving and half of what he says is inaudible (ironic, given the show's title).  Listening where I can easily adjust volume just means Lammey sounds like he's screaming if I turn it back down after Bloom's turn...

I honestly have no idea why they're audio quality is such trash... it's really not that hard a thing to fix/isn't a huge investment.

Anyway, I'm partial to the Fantasy Footballers then CBS guys. I couldn't deal with espn after Nate left. Now no one keeps Matthew Barry's BS in line half the time.
Fantasy Footballers have amazing production, but they aren't that insightful for fantasy. It's pretty basic analysis and the most interesting things they say are usually taken from some other analyst.

I mentioned upthread that Stephania Bell was the best part of the ESPN podcast. She's recently started doing an occasional spinoff podcast called "Answering the Bell" where she does a deep dive on specific injuries. There have been two so far, one on Tevin Coleman and sickle cell trait (which included former Steeler Ryan Clark, who has the same condition) and one this past week on concussions (which she said would be the first in a series on the topic).

I've found both podcasts so far to be incredibly informative. I'm not a Coleman owner, but after hearing Clark talk about SCT, I would have had no fears about playing TC @ Denver, at least not based on health. And the concussion podcast featured a doctor talking about some of the latest research, including the fact that there are like six different types of concussions. Having a better understanding of injuries is one of those "2% Solution" types of things that can give you an edge in fantasy. Plus the concussion stuff has much broader import (if, for example, you have kids who play contact sports).

Doesn't look like they're giving Bell's podcasts their own feed, so you'll have to just scan the main Fantasy Focus feed to see when they drop.

Thanks for sharing this. Im listening now.

I think Andrew Brandt or Ross Tucker has done a few podcasts similar to this. There was a great one about cleats and one style of cleats on a particular playing surface with a much higher risk of serious knee injuries.

Interesting. I've never heard Brandt on a podcast, but I love his weekly column on MMQB, precisely because he has a really unique perspective (both as a former agent and former team exec) that you rarely hear. As for Tucker, I've only heard him on Fantasy Feast, where he mostly lets Evan Silva drive the conversation, though I know he does more football-specific ones as well.

Speaking of insider football analysis, Bill Barnwell has now had Domonique Foxworth on his podcast twice in the past month (Foxworth also writes a weekly "All-22" column for The Undefeated). If you like to nerd out on football analysis, it's amazing. Honestly, a lot of it goes over my head, but I still appreciate it and learn a ton.

This statement about Nate leaving might be the understatement of the year.

As far as I'm concerned, this is when podcasts stopped being truly enjoyable.  He really did have a knack for keeping Matthew Berry and his ranting BS down to a minimum, and Nate seemed to have a decent sense of humor and enjoyed doing his "podcast job".

That said, I don't much like forced humor anywhere, including my fantasy football podcasts........but Nate at least made it enjoyable.

Its not like this is the first time I have ever heard this from a "former" ESPN FF podcast listener. They seemed to have left in droves after Nate left.  Like many, I tried to give it a listen for the next few months of it after Nate left, but its just not the same.

The fantasy footballers is enjoyable, but this year its become much more sponsor promotion (i get it I really do, I just don't care for it) and sometimes it seems like its far too humor based.

I used to like PYRO but for various reasons I have gotten away from that.

Year 'round weekly content is still a good thing in my opinion though, and during the offseason I will likely start them again.

The Fantasy Footballers are one of the few that put new podcasts on all year long.
Thanks, that's one of the few I started listening to regularly this year. As others have said it might not be the most in-depth analysis, but it's entertaining with great production value.

I really can't stand when it sounds like the guy is talking from a bathroom on a submarine.

I have zero knowledge on anything related to making podcasts, but I would think in this day and age it wouldn't be that tough to make the sound decent.

Anyone have any offseason Podcasts they like?

I think I'm addicted.
Seems like lots of podcasts are going year-round. Last year, Harris Football was intermittent throughout the offseason, but he said he's going to mostly stick to a weekly schedule this time around, with additional shows around big events like free agency, combine and draft. ESPN is doing two podcasts per week during the playoffs, and I think will continue weekly in the offseason.

I listen to the following podcasts regularly:

- Under the Helmet (probably the most consistently interesting/useful for dynasty players).

- Dynasty Nerds (occasionally amusing due to rapport of the hosts, but not particularly great insight IMO - just two dudes talking fantasy, fairly superficial analysis/takes).

- Dynasty Blueprint (Overally I'm pretty neutral on this one. They often have quality guests, which is a plus, but I'm not the biggest Williamson fan).

- RotoUnderworld Fantasy Football (you need to be in the mood - the host (Matt Kelley?) is pretty damn annoying and loves the sound of his own voice and the pods are lengthy. But the content is less conventional and doesn't have the groupthink of some others if you're bored of the same tired takes from everywhere else).

- Dynasty Tradecast (I like the vibe of this one and the discussions are interesting, though it's usually pretty short).

I also love On the Couch, but it's become less useful/essential since I got more into dynasty, because it's very week specific. I might have to check out the Dynasty Trade Calculator Podcast one as well!

Thank you for your great post. I searched for this one and immediately saw it was done by Chad Parsons and it made me even more interested.
