Fantasy playoff football (1 Viewer)

I was wondering if anyone here does a fantasy league after the regular season is over with the remaining playoff teams. I wanted to do it this year but I was wondering how others did it. I use MFL so I you have any information about MFL related to this please share. Some things I would like to know is how many starters, and any other details that would be nice to know or rules to avoid.

Also if there is an old thread about this I don’t mind reading threw it if some one has a link.

We don't do anything for the NFL playoffs but we do play a "Beer Bowl" in week 17. League A vs League B, total points to see who brings the beer to next year's draft.

10 team redraft league. We all throw in $100 (70%,30,10) to the top 3 places. We use the same scoring system as the regular season and the same starting requirements (1-QB, 2-RB, 4-WR/TE, 1-K and 1-DST). As your team loses players, you fill in with whomever is left. We normally have a draft of all the playoff eligible players that is 16 rounds. Each player may be drafted twice. It's a great way to keep that FF fix going for the rest of the season.

We have a group of about 8 guys who do this for the NFL playoffs every year (and NCAA Tournament, too - same exact concept - except we don't break it down by position).

We basically get together the first playoff week and draft teams of 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 Flex, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 D/ST among all the players in the playoffs.

You then get fantasy points for the performance of your players from Week 1 through the Super Bowl. The points are cumulative, without weekly matchups. Most total points after all playoff rounds are completed wins. It's only a $10 buy-in, but it keeps folks interested for another month or so until College BB is mid-season.

This setup requires some strategy. Four teams have a first-round bye. Do you give up a full game of potential points for players on those teams, or discount that because those teams are more likely to advance anyway? A couple of years ago, that bit a lot of people in the butt when they went heavy with Indianapolis players and they lost in round 2 after a bye. The guys who took fliers on Pittsburgh players did really well.

We simply tracked it via an Excel spreadsheet updated every Monday that was then emailed out to everyone to review for any point errors.

I highly recommend it.

This is how I do it.........but we don't have roster requirements.I just add up the total number of "draftable players" in the playoffs and divide by the number of owners to see how many rounds we're going to draft. In my version, if you want to draft 12 kickers..........go ahead. (obviously, the other owners are going to prevent this but you get the idea)Adds to the strategy and you really have to pay attention to who is available at the end of the draft.Coach 3k: One thing that I don't like about your version is that you have ~8 guys......which means that only 8 QBs will be drafted. In my league, all 12 NFL playoff QBs get drafted, but of course the NFL teams that you think are going "1 and done" don't get drafted as high. IMO, it adds to the strategy. Also, in your league, if 7 other guys have drafted their QB...........then that other owner can just wait and select his QB in the last round.

I run a huge pool every year with 100+ entrys @ $25each.

I keep the rules simple .... select 2 QBs, 4RBs, 4WRs, & 2 Ks. ... Performance scoring.

Only 1 player can be selected from each playoff team.

Once that player/team is eliminated you lose the roster spot.

Has been going very well for 5+ years.

MFL runs a playoff league for free. We have used it the past 3 years and it's great. We get together for a 10 round draft and go from there.

I do the same thing except use 1 kicker and 1 tight end. A lot of strategy goes into who to pick. Example: For Indy do you take Manning, Wayne, Harrison, Clark, or Addai....you can only take one.

I did something fun last year with the league I commish. We use MFL for our normal season. It let us create a "post" season league for free. We didn't have a draft and instead played survivor type football. You had to fill out a "lineup" (QB, 2rb, 2wr, def, SpecTms[includes kicker]) each week and you could pick any player on any team. But you could only pick them once. So those of us that thought Indy would go out in the playoffs like usual played Manning earlier than the superbowl and we were stuck starting Train Rex. Unless you had already started him as well and were totally screwed. Needless to say, the "lineups" for the Superbowl were funny as hell.Just an idea.-HoveP.S. The "free" post season league let me add a bunch of people not in our normal league to join with us. Not having a draft made for a huge group of people playing and the survivor rules made for some interesting strategies.

This is another good point for you fellow commissioners out there. Since you don't have to have an even number of participants, you can invite several non-league members and get a good gauge of "potential future owners" in case your regular owners don't return next yr.
