Fantasy trade opinions (1 Viewer)

I'm in an anything but typical 12-team mixed league with 5x5 roto scoring. We have three different types of keepers, long-term contracts, draft pick trading, and minor league rosters. But without explaining the details of all that, the question is: Forgetting about positional need or team strengths/weaknesses, would you trade Michael Pineda's next four years for Desmond Jennings' next four years assuming their salaries were relatively equal?

I have Pineda and I'm going to move him for a bat, but I want to make sure I'm not selling myself short by getting Jennings. I am more in need of power than speed, and I'm not sure his upside is more than 15 or so.

he hit 10 hr's in 63 games (< 300 ab's) last year and is 25 years old, and you think his upside is 15?

And even if it is, how about his 50-60 sb's? you don't think those will fetch much in return?

Jennings will be a stud. Let's see Pineda pitch a year or two in NY before anointing him a cy young candidate. I seem to remember a starting pitcher of 15 have a few struggles upon their move to ny.

I'm sure he'll have a season or three somewhere down the line where he cracks 20-25, I just meant for the next few seasons. He didn't have terribly impressive minor league power numbers, so I was checking in with some homers to see if the power surge last year was more of a fluke or if he's expected to develop that kinda power down the line.Of course the steals help, but Jose Bautista goes back into the draft this year and I lose his power so I was looking to see if 25-30 is a reasonable expectation over the next couple years or if my estimate of 15-20 was more likely.

I think Pineda is going to have some tough times in NY. He will probably figure it out eventually, but when? Jennings is more valuable. If you really need power, get Jennings and flip him for a slugger (or trade one of your other speed guys)

Bittersweet on this one. I ended up making the deal and getting Jennings (thank god) but it was with my brother. Poor guy finally finished in the money for the first time last year after 11 years in the league but now he's got Pineda's disastrous contract for this and four more years...ouch

ETA: Bittersweet in terms of fantasy only. 100% bitter in terms of real life
