This sounds like a mistakeI saw that too. I was considering dropping Scheffield and his slow start for him.Mike Jacobs 1B FLAoff to a red hot start, ride it while you can

Thanks. I've done football for a good amount of time, never done baseball. First go around. This sounds like a mistake
No prob. Just remember that one week of fantasy baseball is about equal to half a game in fantasy football if you compare the length of football and baseball season. You wouldn't drop your RB after he had a bad first half of the first game of the season.Thanks. I've done football for a good amount of time, never done baseball. It's a marathon, brother, don't be going waiver wire hog heaven. Just target some FAs, track their progress, look at their minor's history, use a revolving couple of spots to shore up weaknesses, by tabbing guys that may soon be getting playing time.BTW Dropping Sheff for Jacobs is not wise. Jacobs has potential, however, if you have a scrub you can dump. Sheff is going to pump out 35 HRs for you this year.Thanks. I've done football for a good amount of time, never done baseball. Good advice. Baseball is not a sprint like football, so those that like to make umpteen moves can very easily WW their team to oblivion. Now if you have a couple spots at the end of your bench that you don't mind changing often that's one thing, but dropping very good players after one week is foolish. One has to remember that baseball is a game of slumps and streaks, unlike football which doesn't slump. You can't approach fantasy baseball with the same habits as fantasy football. It's a marathon, brother, don't be going waiver wire hog heaven. Owens just wrapped up his 1st major league save tonight versus the Brewers.guy threw 74 Ks in 40 IP in the minors last year w/20 saves and a 1.58 ERAif you have a reserve spot, he's a guy to haveif not, just track the FLA situationthe Marlins are paying Julio big money, but the guy is just not that goodgardner is a 32 yr old journeyman and not the closer of the future in FLAJust curious (as I need cloer help)...Owens has not recorded a K so far. Fluke deal?Lee Gardner got the save today, but Owens still has the most potential. Sidenote: Jorge Julio was in the game, but only for 1/3 for a hold in the ninth.CP Henry Owens FLA (this guy could be the closer within a month for a .500 team)
Adam Lind is now the everyday LF for Toronto, now that Reed Johnson is DLed. Good pickup here that may sneak under the radar of some of your competition.I scoured the WW in a 16 team, 28 man roster, after I traded Sexton-Nathan for Ryan Howard and had an empty P slot.
I picked up P Tejada TEX, after I researched, researched, and researched.
I don't like him pitching in the Texas heat in mid summer. But he was by far the only pitcher that had sleeper all over him. I like Ps that have SO totals that come close to their IP.
Needlesstosay, I was more than happy about his lockdown of the Boston lineup in his 1st start.
I'm in a deep league, so while I was researching...I came up with a list of players to keep an eye on from a 16 team, 28 roster league perspective. I'll share:
P Kenny Rogers DET (DL; watch his progress)
P Jason Marquis CHC (serviable, could be a cheap sorce of W in a better Cub O)
P Sidney Ponson MIN (have to see if fat man can get it done, if he does, he plays for a winning team)
P Nick Adenhart LAA (minors, huge P prospect, may not get call til Sept.)
CP Eddie Guardardo CIN (out w/major injury until June, Red's CP not settled)
CP CIN REDS (track who gets the ops, be it Coffey or Weathers, and pick up for cheap saves)
CP TB RAYS (Unsettled; saves could be Salas or Al Reyes, track 'em)
CP Henry Owens FLA (this guy could be the closer within a month for a .500 team)
P Kerry Wood CHC (DL, could be garbage now, but still a name to track)
C Jeff Mathis LAA (currently in minors, but is a minor league hitting machine, that hasn't done it in MLB)
C Ryan Doumit PIT (guy has potential, may see time at 1B or OF if he shows a hot bat)
1B Chris Shelton DET (another minor leaguer w/a big bat, if Casey falters...)
1B Saenz LAD (guy can stroke, but doesn't have a spot yet with Nomar at 1B)
1B/OF Hinske BOS (reserve; former ROY needs an injury to showcase skills w/premier ballclub)
2B Jose Valentin NYM (always underrated; the old man starts; can get you 15 HR-5 SB; big lineup)
2B Jose Castillo PIT (the poor man's Valentin; starts; max is probably around 10 HR- 5 SBs)
SS HOU ASTROS (Everett/Loretta; Lorretta may be the better play here, but Everett is getting the starts)
SS Brandon Wood LAA (minors; young guy; 30 HR potential; needs a spot ala Hendricks)
3B Korey Koskie MIL (DL until May; should get spot back; maybe a 14-20 HR, .260 avg in him; always hurt)
OF/1B Brad Eldred PIT (huge man((6'7" 250lbs.)); big bomber, low average; needs ABs; track 4 power)
OF Jason Tyner MIN (high average; no power; fast; maybe 300 ABs with 12 to 20 SBs; a better Lew Ford)
OF Catalanatto/Wilkerson TEX (one of these boys will get hot, and both can hit; reserves now; Wilkerson is low avg. with high power potential and some SB potential; CAT is high avg w/less power and speed)
OF Reggie Sanders (old, old man should be traded soon; track in case he lands on the right squad)
OF Jay Payton BAL (currently on 15 day DL; could be a factor and a cheap 15 HR mixed w a few SBs)
OF Billy Butler KC (huge hitting prospect in the KC minors; track! if he gets called up...buy)
OF Adam Lind TOR (another minor league with big league potential; Rios/Wells/Johnson block him)
OK, boys, that's the list. I'll check tabs on this thread as we watch some rise, others fall.
I'd also like to add my 5 man reserve list (as I have a deep league and it may help):
I have 1B Nick Johnson (DL), 1B Dan Johnson (DL), SS C. Guzman DL; cheap SBs); OF Lastings Milledge (waiting for his time); OF De Aza (starting FLA CF; Taveras clone).
