fantasyauctioneer down? (1 Viewer)

can anyone get in there?

Our league draft is supposed to be NOW but noone can get in.

this stanks.

We're supposed to draft tomorrow afternoon and chose fantasy auctioneer because it appears to be the ONLY site on the web that lets you do an auction online. A couple of our guys are trying to log in now to test and they can't get in either. Looks like we'll be drafting via yahoo instant messenger WTF!?!?!?

My draft did not go well there this year.... a lot of people was constantly kicked out of the draft room (including me; and I had no problem last yr). A lot of people complained that they couldn't get a bid in on time or their screen froze up... it just wasn't good.

I was very frustrated during it... I will give them another chance next year to fix their bugs... I'm sure there has to be competition out there.

some are slowly logging in now.

VERY touch and go at this point.

Will let folks know how it goes...

update:

2 hours after the auction was supposed to start.

We're all finally logged in but the commish is clicking the Start Auction button

but nothing's happening.

The chat window works fine though :towelwave:

last update:

the site started slowly coming back to life around 8pm.

our original auction time was supposed to be 6:10pm.

finally got an email from tech support around 8pm saying

"sorry. site crashed. try to set up a new auction since some

auctions are now corrupt."

well, we set up a new auction at 8pm, and that one doesn't work.

We're all ready to bag that site and use yahoo chat to run the

auctions (that would've really sucked) but we gave it one last

try and got it working at 9pm.

once we were in the auction and the applet was running (finally),

it went really smoothly. their auction applet is very sweet.

Unfortunately, it looks like they're a monopoly in this online

auction draft arena so we have no choice but to use them again

next year, unless something new pops up between now and then.

hope you folks have a better experience than we did.

I was in Unlucky's $100 Zeta20 Auction tonight. After about 40 picks the site crashed. Two plus hours later most of the owners were able to log into the draft but Mike was unable to re-start it. Some owners bailed as they have to work early am on the east coast and we are in the middle of a clusterfluck. There's not much time left before the opening kick tomorrow. Several owners are not available to draft on Wednesday evening. It's not their fault. Personally I work evenings and I burned a vacation day on Tuesday to draft in this league. I have to either burn a second vacation day or drop out, it's just a bad deal for all. Even if I take another day off, tonight could easily be as bad if not worse at fantasyauctioneer.com Just a bad deal all around.

We had to abandon our auction in mid-stream, and go to plan B (chat room). Second year in a row we had issues... but this was very frustrating.

There sotfware is very buggy at the wrong time of year... and then they Charge us more than the year before with no improvement... thats bad business.

If they don't step up... someones going to make something similar and take a lot of thier business away.

I've been a big advocate of FA, but the lack of improvements really got to me this year. I have a dynasty league with huge starting lineups and huge rosters, and it's just silly what you have to go through to find players you've loaded that you need to edit. You can't edit your parameters after people have joined, had to email their support to get that done. The section people can set the AI in case they lose link didn't remove the players that were keepers. It's bad enough you can't just type in a dollar value in that section and instead have to click once for each dollar you change. But when there are over 400 players kept who are muddying up the list so you can't see who is actually available? Ugh.I still think the actual auction part is the best software out there, but I agree they are leaving themselves at risk someone is going to come along with something better. I gave serious thought while dealing with the issues this year whether I couldn't write something myself for our league to use next year, as we don't need the commish service, just the auction interface.

while the FA debacle was happening last night, I got to thinking about some low-tech ways tocontrol the auction. one simple idea was...- use a chat room for the bidding process. downside: everyone needs to be able to attend the auction (no A.I.)and commish has to actively do the "going once, going twice..." thing.- also create a google spreadsheet online in an account that all league members can access (or allow thespreadsheet to be viewed by certain people, I guess) and use that as the place to show the current stateof each team (players, cost of each player, total team salary used, etc). Not exactly sure about theupdate times for the online spreadsheet but hitting Refresh after every player or 2 isn't a big deal. It's not "slick" (like the fantasyauctioneer web site says about their applet) but I think it would get thejob done.

What is the cost to use the site? My buddy just created a website that works awesome... we've used it for two leagues now... I'm trying to get him to market it.....

$24.99... the problem is that FA can't handle the traffic they receive

The sad thing is; once one of these big boy sites (Yahoo, Fox, NFL, CBS, MFL, etc) offers an live auction draft... FA is finished.

I can't be paying for a service thats buggy every year.

I'll definitely be inquiring about FA next year here in the Shark Pool to see if it gets any better. If not,we're not gonna plunk down another $25 when my ground breaking shared-spreadsheet-plus-chat-roominterface is free! :bye:

last update (that's what I said before, right?)...

All the members of our league just got an email apology from fantasyauctioneers

for screwing up our auction last night.

What's better is that they said they'll refund their $25 fee.

What's EVEN BETTER is they said they'd add $40 MORE to chip in towards our

league's prize pool.

That's definitely above and beyond the call of duty, imo. This kind of classy

move will make us try them out again next year and give them a second chance.

Sweet.

My league has just finished using FA for the second year. In both years we had technical issues, as well as setting issues. I cannot fault their support team. They were outstanding in terms of how quick they tried to address issues. But in our league's case, we feel that it is more important that the product be working without incident and that any tech support supplements it, as opposed to it being required each time. The sad thing is, when it works, the app is actually pretty useful. But, 0 for 2 is a bad statistical start especially for a yearly event.I think our league will be trying something more low tech next year. Our league almost disbanded due to the issues caused by a faulty draft (for a second time) and the eventual workarounds that were required. Since draft day is so important and it is very difficult to get X people together at the same time, we just can't take the chance again of some glitch causing an issue. For some leagues, it may not too hard for everyone to be around more often than not, but once everyone is working, has families, is not local, etc., the risk reward of using something that may not work becomes prohibitive. For those that have a bit more tolarance for a possible error and have flexibility in their schedules, I would still endorse FA because it does work well most times.I wish FA all the best as they obviously have some good support people there, but I only wish that it had worked better from day 1. Just our experience.LAfan68

Yeah, I got that e-mail for two straight years........ Admittedly, we used them this year again due to not wanting to constantly update max bids and spots via IM. It worked pretty well although it froze up on most occasionally.I agree with the guy who said once Yahoo or Sportsline can handle auctions FA is finished....although I'm thinking that's what makes FA hold on (to be bought).

Control your own draft. Check out btfsports.com. Invest in your own auction draft and stop relying on third parties. The FAT Box can handle up to 4 remote users that can not make the draft party. All you have to have is high speed internet access. No lock ups, no kick outs, no problem.
