How can it take more than a minute to get the Texans taking Mario Williams over Young or Bush?

Minnesota running out the clock in the first round - priceless!

I would have to say that all of the New Yorkers booing Eli and then changing their tune when he was traded was pretty good.

2005When the Jets selected Mike Nugent w/ thier 1st pick in the draft..The look on the fans faces were priceless.
I have a friend who is a Jets fan that I watch the draft with most years - 2006 was the first one in a loooong time he didn't have that priceless look...

The back and forth between Kiper and the Colts...easily the best for me.
Kiper and Tobin for sure. Also, anything Jets related for a while there. Jeff Lageman, Kyle Brady....man, ESPN had some good shots of the Jets fans in the audience.

1990 Draft

I was 13 and my best friend at the time was a huge Florida Gators / New York Giants fan, I am a huge Cowboys fan. The Cowboys traded up in front of the Giants and selected Emmitt Smith while the Giants selected Rodney Hampton. He was less than pleased.

Nearly every year with the Jets :lmao: The best of which was probably the Rozelle head fake saying "Quarterback" before saying "Ken O'Brien"

Other than that Minny running out the clock for the 2nd year in a row.

And of course, the Lions taking a WR for a 3rd year in a row.

When the Bucs traded down & the Eagles selected Mike Mamula with Sapp falling to TB at #12. Good times, good times...

and then they mess it up again the next year :(
:hot: The second year was the best!
IIRC is that the year where they were running out of time and while their rep was walking to the podium some guy from KC stood up and blocked his path. The time ran out and KC made their pick. Please correct me as I'm sure it wasn't exactly like that but I remember talking to my buddies about the "pick" play referencing a basketball "pick and roll" and also the "anti-pick" meaning no draft pick at all.

Bears 06, L. Pope available, trade down, select Manning & Hester, WTF, Lovie, TX, Highscool, WTF.

Glad I was watching this site during it all. The Bears fans I knew did not recover until Hester's first TD.

No matter how many times I watch that, I cry from laughing so hard. The best is when they took Roger Vick - after "fullback", the "OH NO!" is the greatest thing ever.

:hot:  Jets Fans: "We Want Sapp, We Want Sapp..."

Rozelle: "The NY Jets select Tightend from Penn State Kyle Brady" :lmao:

Tagliabue: The Detroit Lions select.....

Me: Randy Moss, Randy Moss, Randy Moss

Tagliabue: Cornerback, Terry Fair, University of Tennessee. The Vikings are on the clock.

Kiper was the man:"It's obvious to me with that pick, that the Jets just have no idea what the draft is all about"

Bob Ley: "Mel, don't pull any punches, tell us how you feel...." Bob Ley was a great guy to pair with Mel, he was so chill compared to Mel.

:lmao:

Mel actually liked Lageman as a player, and he wound up being a decent player, but he was right, the Jets should've traded down.

Didn't he say something similar about CIN when they dared to draft Levi Jones higher than he had projected? That Jet link is an all-time classic and should be reposted draft week every year. It always makes me chuckle and almost want to root for the Jets. Almost.

Actually the first year the Cowboys time ran out and the Vikings didn't make a pick in front of them.

In hindsight watching this once again, I think its funny how Philly booed McNabb.
It's hard to debate how good McNabb has been. But most Eagles fans either wanted them to take Ricky Williams or do the NO trade. But look at all the picks they could have gotten:1999 picks: 12, 71, 107, 144, 179, 2182000 picks: 2, 64It's hard to say who the Eagles could've taken, but you wouldn't trade McNabb for:Jevon Kearse with 12, Joey Porter with 71, Dexter Jackson with 107, Chris Samuels/Lavar Arrington with 2 and Laverneus Coles/Darrell Jackson with 64. Because all these players went in the neighborhood of those picks.

Love that clip. It never gets old. The following sequence kills me:

Fans: "We want Sapp! We want Sapp!"

Tagliabue: "The New York Jets select Kyle Brady . . . "

Fans: :bag:

Tagliabue: " . . . TE, Penn State."

Fans: :o  :D :bag:

Yes, safe to say I wouldn't take McNabb over a list of cherry-picked players, the best possible choice at each possible position in the draft. How very realistic of you.

I'm not saying they would have taken all those players. See the sentence prior to the listing of players. But is McNabb really the reason the Eagles are so good? They looked pretty good in the games where McNabb was hurt and the rest of the team was still intact. Plus, there is still the possibility that had the Eagles traded down and gotten all those picks, they could have still traded back up and gotten McNabb.

All time favorite is 1999 draft when New Orleans trades their ENTIRE DRAFT to move up to #5 with the Redskins and draft Ricky Williams.

Redskins then use the picks to move back up to draft future all pro Champ Bailey at #7 and future pro bowler Jon Jansen in the second round.

LOVE IRON MIKE!! Best thing to happen to a Redskins draft ever!

Whats this Kiper Colts thing?
I was at this draft. The Colts take Trev Alberts at number....5, I think. Mel Kiper goes off:

"Hey, I like Trev Alberts. But to pass on a franchise QB (Dilfer), with this roster, GIMMEE A BREAK!!"

He ranted a little more. So, ESPN has a reporter at Indy headquarters, and they interview Bill Tobin. Bill comes out swinging:

"I gotta question: Who in the hell is Mel Kiper? (Back in New York, the crowd goes crazy!) Has he ever put on a jock strap, or played the game?!"

Bill goes on and on.

They get Kiper's response. He says something along the lines of, "Hey, that's why the Colts are always picking at the top of the draft...."

(crowd goes crazy again)

Good times.

I don't dispute the overall point, but we're still waiting on that "future" Pro Bowl for Mr. Jansen.
