Favorite Apps - Best New Apps (1 Viewer)

I know there a million of them out there, but any recommendations for a workout and/or walking app(s). New Year coming and I need to get motivated and moving.

Myfitnesspal is outstanding in my opinion.
MyFitnessPal has workout routines?

Sorry not routines. Just fantastic for tracking diet and adding in workout and walking info. Maybe I didn't understand what they were asking for.

The workout routines are easy. As they said, zillions online for free.

Tracking diet is way more important in my opinion.

too good to go has been a go to for me in italy. nothing better than getting €19 worth of pastries for €3.99. it works in the U.S. too and is a hidden gem.
Trying this tomorrow. Thanks for the tip.
Used the app 3 times - all ended up being baked goods. Pickup was super smooth and all seemed like a good value. I don’t need the carbs and the locations are a couple miles from my house, so this will likely be a rare treat. Could see more grocery stores and restaurants hoping on board.

Only a few options near me. Mostly baked goods/pizza places. Whole Foods is available but I’m leery due to feedback upthread. But there’s a restaurant that I love in Laguna that’s on there. Definitely going to give it a shot next week.

Tried too good to go and there's nothing in the area, and if I expand out some there's only KK donuts (pass). Bagels in an area I'll be in on Monday but I'll be there in the morning and pickup time is in the afternoon. Oh well...

None of these are new, but Hoopla and Libby are both fantastic. Register your local library card and get access to tons of digital books, audiobooks, digital versions of magazine subscriptions (love Cooks Illustrated), borrow movies, etc. I drive around a lot for work and I can borrow all sorts of audiobooks for free.

For collecting recipes, I love Paprika 3. Can pretty easily download recipes from all over the internet, categorize/group them, modify them, easily change batch sizes, create your own recipes, create your grocery lists easily for ingredients, etc.
You ever talk to someone at the library about getting a book they have only in physical form for another format like audio or kindle?

Just did Whole Foods. There were 5 bags available and I ordered 2, About 1/3 of the items were common to each bag. About $10 per bag and easily a great value as long as you're not picky.

No, prep foods.

For example, Burrito, potato salad, buffalo chicken bites, chicken tikka marsala, chicken cashew korma, roasted Turkey breast.

We are picking up probably twice every three weeks from our local bakery. Last time for 4 bucks we got 4 pastries (usually 2,50 each, they let me pick which ones last time) 4 assorted rolls and a half a round of bread. Quality stuff.

what is a good app for an iphone for sharing a grocery list with your family
We've evolved a bit. At first we used AnyList, which was fine. Then we used the Alexa list because we could add things verbally. Then Covid hit and we used the Shipt app for all our groceries for something like 2 years. Now we all log into the local grocery store app (Meijer) as the same person and add things. The Meijer app has a couple of advantages for us:
  • We then have the option to prepay (plus $5) and they'll collect everything for us to pick up, which we do maybe 20% of the time.
  • We can click on things and see what aisle and slot they're in, which is especially helpful if the kids are sent to the store, but is nice for me too (mac and cheese doesn't go in the pasta aisle? And where the hell are ladyfingers to make tiramisu?)
