Favorite Player Not on "Your" Team (1 Viewer)

Yankee23Fan

Fair Tax!
Watching Baseball Tonight last night is occurred to me that, outside of the Yankees I cheer, my favorite player in all of baseball is Manny Ramirez. I've even found myself making my son watch him bat when the Yankees play the Sox.

Odd that he is a member of the biggest rival.

Who is your favorite player outside your team?

i'm having a hard time not falling in love with josh hamilton.

vlad has always been my favorite player to watch hit. well, besides bonds.

utley is becoming my favorite player to watch with that short, powerful swing. he dips copenhagen too. he's hard not to like.

John Smoltz

Scott Rolen before injuries slowed him down

Travis Hafner before he morphed into Willie McGee

And of course Manny.

Barry Bonds - one of the best players of all-time

Greg Maddux/Jake Peavy/Brandon Webb - how they work the strike zone and are always two pitches ahead of the batter

Barry Bonds - one of the best players of all-time biggest tools since Ty Cobb
FYP. Bonds would be on the list of the top 5 people in sports history I like to cheer against.Greg Maddux might be the smartest pitcher evr to play the game. Manny is also fun to watch - that "high five then double the guy off" thing was hella cool. I think watching Carlos Zambrano is fun, but I can't vote for him as a Cub fan.

Too many to list, I'l try to keep it as brief as possible

Chase Utley

Josh Hamilton

Jake Peavy

Rich Harden

(a healthy) Francisco Liriano

Tim Lincecum

Lots of inriguing youth like Bruce, Kershaw, Scherzer, etc. that have my attention too

:lmao:
barry bonds=the greatest hitter of our generation and a guy who probably was one of the hundreds of players to partake in some performance enhancing drugs during his era. also a guy who didn't get along with the media.ty cobb=one of the more disgusting human beings to ever live.

it's one thing to dislike bonds or discount his accomplishments. comparing him to ty cobb is way over the top though.

Why? Both were dirty players.

 I dont think so. Only thing worse about Cobb was he was a racist in a time when tons of white people were racists.

fair point. in the pantheon of "bad guys", i still consider cobb to be on a whole 'nother level.

<<< Cardinals Fan...sad because nobody picked the best hitter in the game

Jose Reyes

Chipper Jones

Probably my three favorite players in my lifetime:

Rod Carew

Barry Bonds

Don Mattingly

Guys I like watching play these days? Hmmm...

I like Victor Martinez a lot and I get to see him play quite a bit.

Love Pujols, don't know how you couldn't love watching him play.

I like watching closers in general but always like to watch Mariano pitch.

not if you saw any games this year
Hello? Check the avatar on the left there; I've seen all nine Sox-Tribe games so far this year; he's done pretty good against them. I've stayed a fan of his after he left the Indians.
im just a bitter fantasy owner, but yes hes been a stud up until now... great guy too from what i hear

It was Edmonds until the Cubs got him.
:goodposting:As a Cub fan I am really struggling, because I couldn't stand him - I think he whines about called strikes constantly, and makes average plays in the outfield look spectacular, because he often gets a bad jump, turns the wrong way, is not nearly as fast as many other CF, and generally misplays balls initially only to have to make an amazing play just recover.

Manny Ramirez - He's a phenomonal talent and a headcase. I love watching him play.

Eric Byrnes - Imo the closest thing this generation has to Charlie Hustle. Still doesn't compare to the original but he's fun to watch.

Arod - He's going to go down as an all time great and I love knowing I'll someday be able to tell my kids I saw him play.

Royals fan here....

I know he might be done, but I always loved watching Mark Mulder pitch.

Others would be...

Jeff Francouer

Griffey Jr.

Yunel Escobar

Pujols

Willie Mays used to wait on balls to make easy plays look amazing. I'm just saying...

I've always had a sports soft spot for Griffey and Vlad, but I love watching Pujols hit. Why anyone throws that guy a strike is beyond me.

I like Joba Chamberlain despite him being a Yankee. Really, he epitomizes the exact opposite of what the Yankees typically represent. He is a country boy from Nebraska trying to survive in New York City. It really is fun to watch him pitch. He has great stuff and I love the emotion he shows out there even if its against my team.

Completely understandable; fantasy does that to a guy...

Careful - some overzealous types might think you just compared Jim Edmonds to Willie Mays.

Todd Helton.

Hell he's such a nice guy that he turned my 8 year old into a Rockies fan. Just a real nice guy and not too shabby a hitter either.
