Tough choice between Refugee, Runnin' Down a Dream, and Mary Jane.

As much as I love Petty, I actually don't really like a lot of his biggest hits (Free Fallin', American Girl, etc)

Impossible to truly pick just one. I voted Breakdown just for the live version.
My wife likes a country singer named Gary Allan (he's not bad either - from Bakersfield). Have been to see him live a few times and twice he has played Breakdown. I didn't hate it...

Love listening to Petty's Buried Treasure show on SiriusXM. Plays a broad range of material and always has good trivia/stories about each song. He's a pretty funny guy, too.

I heard "Love is Long Road" yesterday on the radio in my car, and cranked it up. Great song. He's got so many great songs.

He was a regular character on "The Gary Shandling Show" and was really good on that show.

Voted Don't Come Around Here but Running Down a Dream was a close second.

One of my favorite shows was TP back in 1991 in San Diego. Into the Great White Open tour.

As others mentioned favorite songs change. But running down a dream is a great start for a roadtrip
