Favre Looking Like a Good Fantasy Start Today - Projections? (1 Viewer)

NE loses another couple players in the secondary. Packers offensive skill positions are healthy.

FAVRE - 24-35, 255 yards, 2 tds

On a separate note, the Packers +6 looks pretty good to me. Packers win 27-21.

Already scrambling to cobble together their secondary unit, the New England Patriots on Saturday evening lost two more starters, as cornerback Asante Samuel and free safety Eugene Wilson were both downgraded from "doubtful" to "out" for Sunday's game at Green Bay.

The loss of Samuel (knee) and Wilson (hamstring) means that the slumping Patriots, who have dropped two straight games, will face the resurgent Packers with just one player, cornerback Ellis Hobbs, who started in the secondary in the season opener. It marks the second consecutive year in which New England has been significantly weakened in the secondary because of injuries.

Strong safety Rodney Harrison, who started the first eight games after rehabilitating from a catastrophic knee injury in 2005, is sidelined by a fractured scapula, and is out indefinitely. Wilson has played in just one of the past six games. And Hobbs is playing despite a broken wrist.

Samuel, who leads the team with three interceptions, had been the only player in the secondary to start in each of the Patriots' first nine games.

New England started four different secondary combinations in the first nine games and will have to go with a fifth on Sunday at Lambeau Field against a Packers team that has won three of its past four games, and has an offense that statistically ranks No. 7 in the league.

It is likely that veteran Chad Scott, who started last week at strong safety, will move to cornerback, where he has played most of his career. Another former cornerback, Artrell Hawkins, will probably start at free safety and second-year veteran James Sanders could get his first start of the season at strong safety.

The Patriots rank 23rd in the NFL in defense versus the pass and are catching Green Bay and quarterback Brett Favre at a time when the Packers' passing game has demonstrated much improvement. Favre is not turning the ball over nearly as much and wide receiver Donald Driver leads the NFC in catches, with 56.

The question remains to be answered yet on how well will the Packers offensive line protect Favre, and how much time will he have with all the rookies starting. I'd be more concerned with the stunts and blitzes from the front 4 or 5 than the cornerbacks. Though the loss of the starters does make things easier.

When it's all said and done I wouldn't be surprised to see about 250 and maybe a couple TD passes.

I'm still starting McNabb over Favre if that helps you any. :)

With Tauscher out, the Packers will be starting Tony Moll at left tackle. Moll didn't play well at guard. If we do see any long passing plays, I think they will be of the 3-step drop, RAC variety, like Driver's TD last week.

I am having this same dilemma. Start Favre or Romo? I have Favre in right now but 3 rookie lineman vs. the Pat's d-line is not very exciting.

O-Line has been much improved - Favre is getting much more time and protection than previously hoped.

What about Favre's groin injury? I'm sure it will get pinned later, but what do we hear?

I told a friend she should consider playing Favre over Bulger this week and she steadfastly refuses (after taking a loss earlier in the season by putting Bulger on the bench - I guess she's sticking with her man).

But I do think we could expect a big day...

I'm starting Seneca Wallace over Favre.....I think Brett will end up with 225-275 yrds and 1 TD(possibly 2) ....I know the Pats secondary is banged up but I believe they'll come to play and win this game

GLTA today

Reports are he tweaked his groin, but should be a go. NE run D is fairly stout but bombs away vs that 2ndary. Good start IMO.
