Favre needs ankle surgery (1 Viewer)

Be that as it may, I sincerely doubt that his need for ankle surgery has ANYTHING to do with any dubious motivations other than the guy's ankle hurts. Not media attention, not avoiding camps he has already been told he can. Again: Anyone who saw that game knows he was in pain. It has not healed all that well. All the rest is silliness generated by haters, the media, and Packer fans other than myself.
I don't think his need to have the surgery has to do with media attention. But why an announcement? That is what people are questioning and "hating" on.And look at where it is coming from in this thread...its hardly just Packer fans. The thing was started by a Vikings fan...who claimed that callers on radio there were wondering about the announcement as well.
It looks to me like the "announcement" was after ESPN was reporting it. Maybe a local interviewer asked about it, maybe they heard about it otherwise. But you have to know that there is probably media around his house and in his home town all the time. Players hounded by the media who refuse to talk to them get the hate, those that do talk to them get different hate.Seems to me he is just being honest and has no ulterior motive. And actually, I have to disagree with you Sho. There were comments that the ankle injury itself was contrived to either generate media or enable skipping camp. Or even as excuse to retire. So not just "the announcement". That is the silliness and hate I was mostly reacting to. No idea about whether he initiated the news cycle or just reacted to it.

Also, although a Vikings fan initiated the posting, I do not read anything critical into his post. Just sharing news.

He actually said it might mean we will know about return vs. reirement earlier rather than later.

2nd post...Falcons fan.3rd post...not sure who he is a fan of...I don't recall him being a Packer fan in the past though.4th post...Ditkaless5th post...Titans fan6th post...not sure...don't recall that being a Packer fan either.and so on.Like so many other Favre threads...this one is far from just Packer fans bashing him as some like to suggest. Its a ridiculous statement.Even I am not bashing him here.Saying it might be an ulterior motive like avoiding camp is hardly just a bash either.I have thought for a while and still think a few of you are just looking for anything to call people haters on this. Its laughable.

You guys give Brett way too much credit for being manipulative and having ulterior motives. Look at the game where he got into it on the sidelines with Chili and then told the world about it. Nine out of ten players would say it was nothing and that "what happens on the sideline, stays on the sideline." Much like JA and Dunbar the week before. He's always been an emotional country boy that has zero idea how to filter anything he's thinking or feeling, and he tells a lie with a smile and a wink.

Okay, but I said "haters, the media, and Packers fans (other than myself)". I meant them as three seperate groups. Perhaps I should have said "or".Avoiding camp at bash? I dunno. Depends on how pejorative the context is, I guess. Hey, I think the guy should be in camp but won't be. I also don't think he really needs to contrive excuses when he has been given tacit permission to miss.

That's exactly the point. When people see this one shred of info regarding Brett they go, "AH HA! I TOLD YOU SO!" It doesn't matter that he's always had cankle problems and everyone from the owner down to coaches stated before this that he could skip training camp. Silly facts, always getting in the way.

When the guy's making statements on his own website it's fair for people to comment and criticize. He loves attention, he seeks it every year, and this is just more of the same from him.

Read up on he and Bus Cook...specifically anything Andrew Brandt has written.Gives you the picture that they are not just dumb country boys who don't know how to work public opinion.
