Favre Traded to the Jets (1 Viewer)

Per ESPN, Favre was traded for the Jets for a single, conditional draft pick.

As a Jets fan, I have mixed feelings about this, what do you all think? This obviously slows down the development of Clemens and shows Chad the door. In the short run, there is no doubt the Jets are better for this deal. The AFC East just got much more interesting. While I do not believe the Jets will seriously challenge the Patriots for supremacy in the East, they are no doubt among the teams at the top of the pack for a wild card spot. Paper is one thing, however, and going out there learning a new offense in a short amount of time to lead an NFL football team to victories is another. I, for one, am glad the saga is over...or is it just beginning? Either way, the little kid Jets fan inside me just smiled.

Favre should have forced the situation. He's going to regret flushing his last year(s) of football with that organization.

The Packers wanted no part of #4 this year. This was a no-brainer for them. The Jets just got much better!

I think the Dolphins stand a great chance of finishing what thy couldn't last year....0-16!

Downgrade Favre's pride. The Jets?????????

I thought he wanted to have a chance at a Superbowl. Being on a mediocre team in the AFC gives him 0 shot at it.

At least go to the NFL where there are no dominant teams.

UGGGG.

What were the Giants chances this time last year?

On ESPN radio they're talking about a 4th round pick that could escalate to a 2nd if he does well and a 1st if he does REALLY well.

Not confirmed though, he just is talking like he "heard" that's what it was.

ETA: WELCOME TO THE AFC EAST BRETT!!!! This is going to be really fun.

If you want a deep sleeper, try David Clowney. He's been great in camp and can be this team's deep threat.

I am surprised. I was already a touch high on Coles, now I think Jones' ability to score some TD's just might improve. Not the worst spot Favre could have wound up, but still. I am certain the Packers have to be pleased as punch that they were able to deal him to a team there is practically no chance they'll play this year.

I am excited as a Jets fan, AFC East fan and a NFL fan. Should be interesting.I heard earlier today that it was for a 3rd, with escalators to a 1st depending upon team and Favre performance.

ESPN and FOX all over this, and NFL Network seems to be ignoring it so far. No mention on NFL Network so far.

eta: they are a few minutes behind. Weird to me that the NFL Network is behind the times on NFL news.

Yeah he's been good. I think rather than Brad Smith, he's the guy.But Coles and Cotchery are very very happy.

Haha Favre in New York. The fans'll eat him alive.
I think the fans will embrace him considering who they had playing for them last year.
Despite knowing what a narcissistic prima donna he is? New Yorkers don't take kindly to that. If he doesn't perform to the high expectations placed on him, it'll be brutal.Mangini/Tannebaum officially on the hot seat.
