Favre (1 Viewer)

I am somewhat suprised to see Favre doing as well as he had so far this season. What are people's thoughts as to how he will do from here on out? Seems like he is rejuvinated and may be in the top 10-12 QBs when things are all said and done. I like that he doesn't have any sort of running game. I definitely think he will continue (though not necessarily as good as this past two weeks).

Should he be bought or sold for the rest of the season?

I think he's a hold/buy- admittedly I drafted him as my QB1 late in what was going to be a QBBC - now it's not.

Most people out here think this is a mirage - check for the threads where people were saying he's a bottom 5 NFL QB.

His WR are finally mostly healthy, and while the sched looks somewhat tough coming up, they are 3-0, and playing well.

Favre in recent years has outplayed his adp. People always sleep on him and he just keeps on slinging. I would buy in on the Favre stock.

Favre doesn't have a center fan base in ffb. Either people clearly want him or they don't. If an owner doesn't show slight interest...forget it. No matter how many 3td games he has.

I have watched two of the GB games on TV this year. He is playing every bit as well as he did during his MVP years. The Packers were lining up in the shotgun with an empty backfield on 1st and goal at the 1-yard line. The Packers aren't going to quit passing to kill the clock when they are winning, either. McCarthy knows where the strength of the team lies, and it is squarely lying on Brett's arm. There is a very real chance that we are looking at his 4th MVP year. I say it is time to keep Favre and start him every week, even against the Bears unless you have a great alternative.

Just prior to this week's game I was offered Favre for Cutler and the Pats D. I turned it down. Now I'm thinking it's a good deal and should take it. Favre is looking good. Jennings is finally healthy. I think he'll keep it up.

I drafted Favre in the 10th round as a member of my QBBC. He obviously has been the best of the lot (McNair, Pennington, Garcia). I only had him penciled as my starter in week 2, going with McNair in week 1 and Garcia in week 3.

He has emerged as a conisistently good play and as such, I hold and keep him in the lineup moving forward.

McCarthy had a great quote in his post game presser, saying 'I'm going to put it in Brett Favre's hands' in regards to throwing at the goalline rather than trying to run it in.

That tells you all you need to know. Yesterday was unreal from a gameplan standpoint. After the first drive, McCarthy didn't even pretend he might run the ball. The Packers came out in almost nothing but shotgun and empty sets.

Having said this, Favre has started well the last two seasons and then faded badly down the stretch. It's not 1996 by any means. But he should easily be a viable fantasy starter for the next month, and perhaps longer.

The Packers' running game is an absolute joke. Favre is going to have to pass it a ton in most games and the sheer volume of pass attempts should lead to solid production at worst most weeks. His decision making has been superb and against the Chargers the line did a great job of giving him time to throw. I still think Favre is a spot starter depending on the matchup. Next week against the Vikings I'd consider starting him because he'll likely have to throw 35-40 times a game and the Vikings will give up plays in the passing game. For the Monday Night game against Denver, I wouldn't go anywhere near Favre because teams don't throw on the Broncos and the Packers don't have the running game to compensate.

The Packers' running game is an absolute joke.
They actually looked decent on the ground yesterday the 9 times they chose to run the ball. Grant looked great, actually. Then all of the sudden, the Packers became the Rich Gannon-Super Bowl-Year Raiders. I mean, it was just Bizzaro World how McCarthy just completely abandoned the run after the first drive...

Agreed...had a few people just see the yardage (and yards per carry) and say...they just cannot run.But until the last 3 runs...they had 10 rushes for 41 yards (4.1 per carry). It was going ok. Not great...but respectable. They simply chose to keep throwing it because it was working. And I said several times this may happen...use that short passing game in substitute of running plays. Those 3 runs by the way (before someone jumps in and talks about not taking out plays to make stats look better)...Jackson needed 2 carries to get the ball in from the 2 and score. And Favre lost a yard on a kneel to end the game. 3 carries for 1 yard. Those carries do not tell the story of how they ran the ball before them...so IMO, you can remove them to really look at how they ran the ball.

I still think their running game is terrible. And I doubt they show much next week. The Vikings' run defense is superb. This will be another game where Favre likely throws it a ton.

Of course it's terrible. But you have to give McCarthy credit for not banging into the Chargers strength for the sake of 'establishing the run' - I hate that cliche, and it seems to paralyze a lot of coaches. McCarthy played to his teams' strength and won the game because of it, against a supposedly vastly superior team.

Yes but with that defense and 3-0 record they can develop that RB until someone shows.

I agree. I have zero problems with what McCarthy did yesterday. He coached very well. I just worry that at some point this team's inability to generate a consistently productive running game will bit them in the ###. I'm thrilled about the 3-0 start but I'd feel a whole lot better if the Packers were even an average running team.

he looks like a man possessed out there, and I love seeing it. I drafted him as my #2 QB in 3 leagues, and he's pushing for a starting gig. but more than that, I am just a Favre fan (how can you not be?), and I enjoy watching him play...and right now he's playing like a guy who is on a mission. sure, he will have a 3 INT game or 2, but I expect him to continue to outplay his ADP all year while leading the Pack to a division title.

Favre has a pretty solid supporting cast with Driver, Jennings, Jones, Lee, and Franks, and O-line is doing a decent job in pass protection. Add in the fact that the coach isn't afraid to throw +40 times a game and you're going to get a lot of stats this year.
