I thought it might be fun to see the thoughts and picks of the board after the season was over. I realize that there are still the bowl games, all star games, combine, workouts and some players haven't declared yet, etc.; but this should go quick so we can always do another one in a month or so. I'll post a new team once to twice a day depending on how close it is; with the player previously selected being off the board. If it is close, we'll have a run-off. Any thoughts you'd like to add as we do this would be great.

A good QB is meaningless without a line to block for him. The Oakland O-line is PATHETIC. All too often a team looks to fix their offensive woes by switching QB's. A lot of very average QB's have looked great with a good line, and a lot of very good QB's have looked awful with a bad line in front of them.

Quality offensive lineman are generally overlooked by fans, and the fan support and opinion too often sways the decisions of football managers and coaches.

Guess who I chose..... :goodposting:

Good points on the Oline at Oak. They would likely move Gallery to LG then if they make this move. It's 8-6 right now in favor of Quinn. Keep the votes coming...

If Joe Thomas grades out like expected, he's the easy pick.
Joe Panos, former Eagle and Bill, who went to UW has been working with Thomas since he retired and says that he is the real deal. He's on the radio here in Milwaukee all the time and is just impressed with everything about this kid. There's nothing not to like in the pick. Plus, if the Raiders select him, it could go a long way into changing their image. Not sure if Raider fans want that, but hard working dedicated football players with classy attitudes should be the way to go IMO.

..I think Brooks/Walter could be decent if they had time and the same can be said for Jordan/Fargas, so the OL really has to be the top priority.Having said that, for fantasy purposes I'd like to see the skill guys go places where they have a chance to succeed and Oakland is not going to be that place for a few years.

Thomas is the real deal, but I don't see the Raiders selecting him 1st overall. If anything, I'd be trying to trade down to 3 or 4 and select whoever's left of Thomas, QUinn, Calvin, or AP>

While I agree they should move down, I believe this is one of those years where there is not a player that entices a team enough to move up.Should be a decent fantasy year as skill position players are concerned but I do not see an overwhelming player that teams will covet.Tom

I think that no fewer then three teams will enter the bidding for Calvin, and no fewer then 3 teams will enter the bidding for QUinn if Jamarcus and Brohm stay in school

while I fell for the hype of Brady Quinn early, I think after watching Joe Thomas today vs Arkansas, he would be the top pick IMO.

I impulsively (& foolishly) voted for Quinn but would gladly change it to Joe T.

As for taking him at 1.01? I agree it's doubtful, but who would trade up to take Quinn at 1.01? Detroit is possible, but why trade up 1 spot?

I think Joe Thomas is the best player to help Oak, but they don't always do what is best for the team (Art Shell, R Moss, J Porter etc)

I'll leave this up a little while longer before going on to pick #2. I'd like to get to around 100 votes and hopefully we'll have a leader at that point.

This is true, Quinn might attract some bidders if he is the only "blue-chip" QBCalvin, I see the talent, love the results, just don't see it at 1.01

Should?or will?
This is meant for the board and what they think the team on the clock should do. We all know that the GMs or owners may not draft that player, but this is for FBG to give their input. I will say that maybe some GMS, like the one in Detroit, should pay attention to these outcomes and learn a thing or two...

Assuming that these are the top guys at their position (I don't follow much college ball), How can they not take an OT? Nothing I have seen or read tells me that Brady Quinn is a no brainer frainchise QB. Probably similar QB talent to be had in round 2, no?

I forget his name but I remember talk about some other QB that when all is said and done, might creep into discussion for one of the top overall picks in the draft. Maybe I am mistaken but if not, whomever the hell that is, should be included.

JaMarcus Russell QB LSU...I'll include him in the next poll...

Thats it. I heard rumblings he could go ahead of Quinn. Thanks.
