Really bad time to have your car break. What the hell was that?

When I typed that, I just saw a few guys with extinguishers. How so, water doesnt put jet fuel out, they got the trucks and hoses outSeems to me there would be better fire equipment on hand. They just seemed under-equipped.
Call the race, give Blaney his 1st win ever.
gotcha. Before cot Juan may have been really injuredWhen I typed that, I just saw a few guys with extinguishers. How so, water doesnt put jet fuel out, they got the trucks and hoses outSeems to me there would be better fire equipment on hand. They just seemed under-equipped.
Remember the track is 2.5 miles around....That was crazy. I'm surprised how long it took to get some real hoses onto that fire to finally put it out.
Even if it didn't burn chunks of race track up, they have to get rid of all that jet fuel, water, and foam. That has got to be the strangest crash in NASCAR history.
And there is a good chance the track is a mess right there. They may have to call this race.
I think they'll replace that section before they start back up.![]()
They've got to call this a race, right? There's no way they can drive through that patch, let alone damage to the barrier/structure from the heat
Jim Utter @jim_utterThe jet dryers hold 200 gallons of jet kerosene.
Would love this for Blaney and Baldwin. I used to know Baldwin and his (late) dad Tom Sr. back in the Modified days - good, good people.Call the race, give Blaney his 1st win ever.Hell of a way to win the 500.
Seriously. What happens if they miss a little and someone drops a tire on that turn, sparks the area and it goes up again.Even if it didn't burn chunks of race track up, they have to get rid of all that jet fuel, water, and foam. That has got to be the strangest crash in NASCAR history.

The people who installed the track may have some idea. Hard to say.Totally crazy. One of the strangest things I've seen in sports.
No way should they finish this race. They have no idea what kind of damage that surface took with that sustained heat.
I loved Duvall in that movie."Now Cole, when that little needle goes up into the red and reads 9,000 RPM, that's bad!"Hey Juan, I want you to get out there and hit the pace car. Hit the pace car?Yeah, hit the pace car.Why the hell would I do that?Because you've hit everything else out there, I want you to be perfect. Now go!
A shame - Steve is a great guy and had a solid career going before the head injuries. Like the Baldwins, he and his dad started out on the bullrings on Long Island.Reminds me of Steve park wrecking on a caution
Eta video
He just said 30 minutes or less.Supposedly another hour to get track ready. Mike Helton to speak on broadcast shortly.
$300 million facility. Biggest race in American sports. Millions of people all over the world watching. And they are going to fix the thing with a $20 seed spreader and $15 worth of Tide laundry detergent.I love NASCAR.

Not sure, but you could have retired if you'd have put some money down on Montoya taking out a jet dryer. What are the current odds for the drivers left? There must be live odds somewhere. Thanks.
Yep, every other time a jet dryer was involved in a crash, this took care of it.Has this been proven to actually work in the past?![]()

Did Danica just scoot off the track to go pee? She had a little giddy up in her step there.Tide or other detergents on oil/fuel on the speedway?Has this been proven to actually work in the past?![]()
DW mentioned that it worked at Richmond and I saw it used at Shangri-La (short track) once after a fuel spill (diesel tank on a hauler let go heading over the first turn entrance). Diesel and jet fuel/kerosene is a lot more persistently oily than gasoline. They gonna follow Danica into the ladies room?$300 million facility. Biggest race in American sports. They gonna throw down the speckled finish that comes with that garage floor epoxy kit?Did you see earlier where they showed how a little pothole developed on the track two years ago? It took them like 3 different fixes. A POTHOLE!$300 million facility. Biggest race in American sports. Millions of people all over the world watching.
