Well I'm not happy about giving up the bishop pair but my B at a2 sucked. This is going to be tough sledding for me now.
Shall we write him something back?

I'm here!Bender! Joffer! Kutta! What happened to you guys? We're in endgame now, we need your help!
Good. My idea is pretty simple: Bf6 Red1 Rd5 Be3 Kf8. King moves to the queenside to prevent Nb7 so as to allow Rcd8. But I'm unsure about what to do if white plays a4, and also not sure what else white might do to prevent this plan. Let me know what you think.I'm here!Bender! Joffer! Kutta! because Nb7Why not Rcd8 instead of Kf8?
Rd8d7?because Nb7Why not Rcd8 instead of Kf8?
The knight goes back to c5. He can do that all day. It's a draw, unless we prevent it somehow. That's why I'm proposing moving the king.Rd8d7?because Nb7Why not Rcd8 instead of Kf8?
No way to do that while the knight is on c5. And the knight will only move to attack one of our rooks so we don't have time to play with the bishop. If we could get the bishop to a5 then maybe we can take the pawn
Who knows? Why not start from the position I just posted and try and help us out?Man the board upgrade really came at a bad time for my enjoyment of this thread. I probably need to start back on post one but at 46 pages so far that is unlikely. Will there be a round 2?
I like Bf6 here as well.OK, mistake, I thought we were running out of time. Turns out we have 3 days for each move, so I still have over 24 hours. However, I really would like some feedback here, thanks.
New board has half the number of posts per page by default. It threw me off too as I was pretty sure we were on page 23 before the upgrade.Man the board upgrade really came at a bad time for my enjoyment of this thread. Idea is after Rd5 he'll play Be3. If he doesn't we might try Bg7 and force a decision. But the king move is based on Be3.derek245583 said:I must be missing something. How are we going to get the king to the queen side with the bishop just guarding any path across?
It isn't, but it's hard to see what else he might do.Be3 isn't forced for White.
I think that's right. And a draw against someone of Kaspy's skills would be quite an accomplishment. But I think we should try to breakthrough. Even if we stumble and end up losing its a good learning experience (the real point of this exercise) to exhaust the possibilities if we can). We're in a Carlsenesque position where we can keep trying stuff risk-free until he either makes a mistake or we get a draw.![]()
I wouldn't offer the draw. I'd simply play Rcd8 Nb7 Rd8d6 and then he could decide if it's going to be a draw.Offering a draw is a sign of weakness.
