FF not as interesting this year (1 Viewer)

anyone find themselves not as interested in FF as past years. I cannot but a finger on it but it just does not get me excited as it use to. I do not think it is FF in general just this year. Maybe it is all the injuries, average/below average play of players, more and more parity in the NFL, just not sure. You feel this way?
That happens when you lose. If you were winning you wouldn't believe how intersting this season is.

I bet the OP is 0-5 or 1-4.
6 leagues- 4 dynasty and 2 redraft4-1- best team in league on paper4-1- solid team with good chance to make playoffs and win SB2-3- solid team bad luck last 2 games1-4- solid team surprised of record2-3- dynasty team in rebuild1-4- dynasty team in rebuild :bag:  :lol:my post has nothing to do with my records. I figure I will have a few good teams if I play in many leagues

So many early round guys have been busts or have gotten injured, and very little in the way of late-round or WW sleepers have exploded on the scene to fill the void.

Consequently teams are fielding some pretty uninspiring lineups, and getting pretty uninspiring production from them.

All of which has left their owners uninspired.

Our league is in its 9th season.

We figured a long time ago that in order to "keep it interesting" is to make less predictable.

We spent the first 3 seasons just totally tweaking our scoring rules so that RBs do NOT dominate the scoring. We have made very attempt to make the scoring so, that if you miss out on the stud RB's you can try to make a run at a championship using a stud QB or stud WR...

While it seems that every year a few of the same owners are constantly stuck on the stud RB theory, most try something diffent every year.....they'll make a run with WR's or QB....

This year is WAY off when it comes to parity in scoring by positions....

RB's are practiacally non-existant...but it's still fun

I know what the OP is saying. I have only recently returned to FF. I was big into it when I was in high school several years ago. I went to college, and just never joined a league there. However, my brother asked if I wanted to help him this year, he is an investment banker with no time, and I jumped at the opportunity. Things have definitely changed since I have left. This forum, for instance, is awesome. So I guess if people play 5 leagues for the last 15 years, I can see that happening. But now that I have the bug, I am loving it. My team isn't great (see Sjax/possibly Henry/Pittman/Vince) but I figure that eventually I will be burnt out. I just don't see it happening any time soon. :bag:

someone has to win . . . it's a 14+ round draft, and every pick counts . . . the games are exciting as ever for me . . . I have only two leagues, 3-2 in both and this year has probably been the most exciting for me . . . it's also MORE challenging when there are more injuries than usual . . .

Too many leagues, spending too much time on this HOBBY.

I don't understand why people can never figure this out. The more time you spend doing something, the less enjoyable it eventually becomes. Eating at the same restuarant all the time... Driving the same car every day... Listening to the same song over and over... Having sex with the same girl day after day...

Try playing in one league next year. And treat the offseason as if it actually was one.

my problem is that I'm doing FF research in March, when free agency begins..Then I watch the NFL draft, then its waiting for June 1st cuts, then the opening of camp, preseason, etc..by the time week 1 comes around, I've already lost interest.

Maybe I just need to not think about football until the final week in August, just before the FF drafts..
this could be my problem. I play in 4 dynasty leagues. I follow FF 9/10 months out of the year. waiting till about July could be the way to go. maybe I am just burned out with FF because I follow it almost year around.
There is your problem right there...maybe you should drop a dynasty league or two.

Quick remedy FSU: Not saying this is the absolute case but sometimes when our teams are struggling and yet we feel we know a lot about football it starts to churn our stomachs some. I tend to call up Phil Helmuth's line in poker which is "If there wasn't luck involved I would win every time." Here is what I would do if I were you...sometimes you need to just be a fan. WHoever your favorite team is, you need to just root for them. This weekend I have a lot of bad match ups and rather than sit around getting sick about it or running to the computer to check every 5 minutes how my team is doing, I am simply going to be a fan on Sunday...an NFL fan. We have a rare treat in the New England Dallas game on SUnday and I think everyone should try and watch that game and just be an NFL fan. I find when I simply take a weekend off or dial it down a few, tends to get me over those humps.
Excellent post. Yes, sometimes you just need to be a football fan, not an FF fan.
It's kind of hard when I credit FF with reviving my interest in the NFL.As for fsufan, it's probably a pretty simple answer. FF is nothing more than a game-a way to pass the time. As we age, our tastes change. What interested us in the past doesn't always keep out interest.

I can see that perspective.I just think that for a lot of people it's less exciting to see if rosters featuring the likes of DeShaun Foster and Jerry Porter as starters are going to outscore ones sporting Jason Wright and Roddy White, after being accustomed to matchups like SJax + Boldin vs. Maroney + Harrison. Not only are the matchups less compelling, but the points are down as well. That doesn't remove the strategy and challenge, it just makes it less interesting for some.
