Who is Finnegan going to be assigned to this week? If you were the Titans who would you put him on?
From the games I have watched Finnegan has been following the teams number 1 WR's all over the field. And he has been doing a really good job of it as well. The problem with the Jets is they don't have a true number 1 so Maybe Finnegan just plays one side of the field and which ever guy lines up on his side he takes.Pretty sure he just stays on one side of the field. Most teams do not have their top corner follow the #1 WR the whole game.
Totally disagree. If anything, he is extremely underrated.C Finnegan is extremely overrated. Sure, he is good, but benefits hugelybecause he is part of the Tenn D. I'd like to see him go to Oak or Denver and see if he can cover like Bailey or Asomugha. Those guys have no protection around them on D but consistently get it done.
He has elevated his play a bunch this year and is a top corner. Top corner's get alot of praise. Some of it is that he's just finally catching people's eyes this year. I don't think a whole lot of casual fans knew who he was in 07. Bailey didn't cover this year, he just ran near receivers. I love the player but geesh was he terrible everytime I saw him-abnormally bad year IMO.C Finnegan is extremely overrated. Sure, he is good, but benefits hugelybecause he is part of the Tenn D. + 1.Not only has he become a top 5 cover corner, but he is far better in run support than any one else in that category. Kid is just a great ball player.I'd argue the back 7 of the Titans D benefits far more from his presence than vice versa.Totally disagree. If anything, he is extremely underrated.
It is a bit confusing. Against GB, Harper was terrible and there was no way he was coverring Jennings so Finnegan followed him. Generally they each take a side though, if an opposing O seems to be running #1 WR purposely against Harper, they'll switch. They watch tons of tape and pretty much know this WR will lineup here, that one will line up there. Fisher has mentioned it in press conferences several times the last couple years. They each take a side and it shouldn't matter who plays where. He does, however, adjust in games at times. Sooooooooo to try and clarify, in theory only, they each take a side. For example-Harper did cover Reggie Wayne at times but probably 85% was Finnegan on him.The Titans have 3 very good CBs and 2 excellent Safeties so they usually matchup real well against any team. From the games I have watched Finnegan has been following the teams number 1 WR's all over the field. either you're a) extraordinarily ignorant of this situation or b) fishing ...i'm guess b)because anyone who has watched Finny the last 2+ years has come away saying top5 CB in NFLand he hits pound for pound with anybodyC Finnegan is extremely overrated. This is what really caught my attention with this guy in the first place. Not only is he a great cover corner he is one of the better tackling DB's in the league. This guy is underrated, but won't be for very much longer as more and more people will start giving him his due respect.+ 1.Not only has he become a top 5 cover corner, but he is far better in run support than any one else in that category. Yes - I'm playing Cotchery without any confidence, as it's either him or Evans.Carter_Can_Fly said:Bump,Is nobody else worried about this match up????
Thanks for the honest reply. I have Cotch in one league and Coles in the other. Was thinking about benching which ever guy drew Finnegan, but it appears everybody would be guessing to who he would be covering any way. I know Carr played a lot last week and looked pretty average, but was only playing due to injury. Is he going to be playing a lot again this week?Yes - I'm playing Cotchery without any confidence, as it's either him or Evans.Bump,Is nobody else worried about this match up????

Thanks, a lot, this is they type of post I was looking for.Interesting question. Titans D: Finnegan tends to play the RCB spot and Harper the LCB Jets O: Cotchery tends to line up on the left side of the formation while Coles is on the right side. Because the RCB lines up against the LWR that would lead to an expectation that Finnegan would be matched up against Cotchery in "normal" offensive vs. defensive formations.Cotchery also played very well last week (87, TD) while Coles hasn't had over 40 yards or a TD in a month. With that in mind I wouldn't be surprised if the Titans attempted to plat Finny across from Cotchery in certain situations with Griffin/Hope paying a bit more attention to him and Dustin Keller in the middle of the field. My guesstimate based on the info above: temper expectations for Cotchery this week and Coles could be a sneaky play for those making a difficult #3 WR decision.

I had benched Cotchery for Vincent Jackson and came in here looking for a reason to switch back, but this solidified my decision. Thanks, a lot, this is they type of post I was looking for.Interesting question. My favorite thing about him is that he is still learning and does everything Coach Fisher wants. I've been critical of some missed tackles by him, but you could also tell he was critical too and would follow those up with even better play. He really tries to be better or be perfect and you can see the effort. He's excellent now so....sky's the limit with him. If you're watching the Jets-Titans game, watch if he misses a tackle or misses an INT that maybe he could have grabbed. I can flat out guarantee he'll be even more fired up for a few plays after. Favre tends to pick on a CB that does make a mistake and that would be foolish here. IMO There's a quite likely chance that there's a real interesting play in the game at that point. One of the few things I hate as a fan is that ya gotta figure anyday now teams just aren't going to throw his way. Pretty soon it won't be as fun to watch him and we'll be wishing there'd be some action between him and whatever WR he's coverring. It's like the ultimate compliment for a CB but, as a fan I don't much care for it.This is what really caught my attention with this guy in the first place. I really didn't think Jennings was that good that week. We've discussed this before. He had 1 55 yarder where Finnegan made a poor tackle attempt. Otherwise he was like 1 catch for 7 yards in both the first and second half. 1 for 7 in each half stinks. I understand the 55 and....we discussed this already. I'm pretty confident the Titans would be fine with Cotch or Coles having a similar game to Jennings.Driver was awesome that week. Best I've seen a WR do against the Titans in a long time. This would be the big problem the Titans never want to happen again IMO.packersfan said:I'm a big Cotchery fan but this is a very tough matchup in a lot of ways. The Titans have allowed one TD to a WR all season long. One. Granted, the time that occurred that was against the Packers in a game which saw both WRs post good yardage numbers (Driver had a huge game that week; Jennings went 3-79). Also, Cotchery went gonzo on the Titans last year and that was without Favre. And adding even more to the mix is the fact this could be a huge game potentially with AFC homefield ramifications if the Jets can win. It's hard to bet against Favre in a game like this. And if Favre plays well, the chances are Cotchery will likely play well.Damn tough call in a PPR league. I think it's safer to sit Cotchery in a standard league but in my PPR league he's a Top 20 WR. The thing that jumps out at me the most isn't so much Finnegan but the 1 TD allowed all season to WRs. That's an insane stat through 11 games.Damn.
Carr will start this week with Harper still hurt and Hill and King going on IR. We signed Tuff Harris off the practice squad and Tyrone Poole off the street this week for "depth". Vince Fuller will continue to play nickel. That said, I don't know how Fisher will deploy Finnegan against Cotch and/or Coles. Thanks for the honest reply. No worries, glad the call I made turned out to be the correct one. That TD catch by Coles instead goes to Cotchery and my prediction goes from completely accurate to garbage. It helped me this week, hopefully it helped a few other owners too. Thanks, a lot, this is they type of post I was looking for.Interesting question. Coles - 88 yards, TDCotchery - 55 yardsJackson - 57 yards, TDI had benched Cotchery for Vincent Jackson and came in here looking for a reason to switch back, but this solidified my decision.
