First Round Rookie Draft Pick Tiers (1 Viewer)

in general, people would rather have someone who wows in the underwear olympics than produce in college... i think where he ends up will be a big factor (which should be the case for most WRs since they are dependent on a QB getting them the ball)

Sanu's combine was good except for the 40 time, and his pro day 40 was in the 4.4's. He was great at the gauntlet. And his 3 cone, broad jump, etc. were all good to very good.

Part of it is there are just so many WR with high grades this year. 12 guys with grades over 80 on nfl.com. There were 2 last year.

Personally I love Sanu and am trying to not trade away any early 2nds in order to grab him. All around player with great hands and good in the open field. If he can find a similar slot receiver role to what he did in college, he could produce immediately. If he has to transition to the outside there will be a learning curve.

So why is Sanu on average the 5th WR in rankings, but isn't on anyone's list of guys to draft?
5th in what rankings? He is in the WR 6-8 range in almost all of the fantasy and NFL rankings that I've looked at.
His average ranking (weighted a little) across 25 sites is 6.41, which gives him the fifth-lowest average ranking behind Blackmon (1.16), Floyd (2.07), Wright (3.07), and Jeffery (5.77), just ahead of Randle (6.70) ahead of a huge dropoff to Stephen Hill (10.36).So, yeah, his average is 6, but that's 5th-best.

Rankings that put him 5th or better:

Thanks. I guess you have been looking at a bigger sample of rankings than I have, and he is 5th on average. That's not how things have seemed here in the Shark Pool, where Hill & Jeffery (in some order) seem to have secured the last of the top 5 WR spots and even the Rueben vs. Sanu vote wasn't very close. Are those rankings (the average of the 25 sites) posted online somewhere, or is that just something that you've been keeping track of?I wonder if some of the averages (like Hill's) might be misleading, since a few low rankings can really drag down a player's average. The order might change if you looked at medians, or at how many rankings have each player in the top 5 (7/25 for Sanu), or at head-to-head comparisons (how many rankings have Sanu ahead of Hill)?

http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=634272&st=0&p=14186179&fromsearch=1entry14186179 lists the sources. I weighted them a bit based on my opinion of the quality of the rankings, but I admit I'm using some very arbitrary criteria there at times (professionalism of the website, how deep the rankings go, how often they update the rankings). Pulling them into the spreadsheet would be a lot easier if people could spell names...For your specific question, Sanu was ranked as better than Hill in 12 rankings. A lot of the sites don't list the date of their last update, but some of them haven't been updated since the combine... I'm guessing those are the sites that have Hill lower in general. Whether it's better to trust sites that react so much to fast combine times or not is a valid question, though. I'm pretty sure some people fit their rankings to their draft projections somewhat, which sucks.

Note that I found a mistake in my sheet - Stephen Hill was misspelled once and his average drops to 8.54 after fixing it.
