First Trip to Lambeau Field: Experiences (1 Viewer)

A vendor is bringing me to the Chargers at Packers game Sunday for my first trip to Lambeau Field. Planning to arrive around three hours early to soak in the experience.

As a football fan I'm excited to go. Planning to wear a low-key gold Minnesota Vikings cap, thus blend in but hoping it may prod good border battle conversations. Considering wearing my Randy Moss Vikings jersey too as I doubt I'll take off my coat anyway. :moon:

Expect a lot of ugly, overweight people with bad breath. And a really good team on the field.

-Bears fan

You are going to love the college atmosphere of it. I've been there many times. I have not seen opposing fans abused or even disrespected. My wife is a Bears fan and we both wore out jerseys to the game and she got a little bit of trash talk but all G rated.

Hopefully you don't run into Joe Buck.

3 hours doesn't seem early enough for your first experience for a late afternoon game.

Try to get to Krolls, grab a butter soaked burger and some curds.

Then hit the lot for tailgating.

Now, if you were wearing Charges gear, you may get treated well, and offered food and beer.

Vikings crap...not sure your luck will be as good.

I'll tell you a brief story. I'm a Jets fan, and I went a few years ago. It was December and game time it was 6 degrees. The windchill made it insane. During the game I took a sip of my beer and realized that the frosty head had froze up one me. lol. It was ridiculous.

But my story is that the night before my buddy and I went to Brett Favre's steakhouse for dinner. An older couple at the next table overheard our conversation, and we started chatting. They learned we were from Southern California and they asked if we were ready for the cold. We gabbed on for a bit, then the wife left the table, we didn't really notice at the time of course, but she was gone for about 30 minutes. Why? Because she drove home, grabbed 2 pairs of mittens and packs of those things cold weather people shake that make heat and you stick in your gloves and boots... and gave them to us. Blew my mind.

Compare that to the experiences I've had in Oakland, San Diego, etc and I could not paint a more different picture.

Anyway. My point is that I found the people there amazing and the experience unforgettable. Enjoy!

Yep you'll have a blast. Such a unique experience as your driving through, what looks like a typical small city and bam there's Lambeau field. I always like going to Stadium View bar as they have a huge tailgate party outside along with being jammed packed inside. You'll see mullets and people wearing dead animals but they are the friendliest people on Earth.

As others have pointed out, other than a few comments from an obnoxious drunk or two you'll be treated great and yes probably be given free beer, brats etc. I've been to a dozen games or so up there including a Sunday night game against the Vikes with 2 of my Vikings fan friends. They had a blast and got more free drinks than the Packer fans in the group did.

Truly a sports bucket list item if you've never been there before.

I'm not worried about being treated well. But you make interesting points about Chargers fans. I wish I had a Fouts, Winslow Sr. or LT2.

I planted the seed for Week 17 Vikes at Pack too. Slim chance I'm sure.

The bleachers are all aluminum so if it's cold bring/wear padding. If you can get there a day or two before, the stadium tour is awesome, You get on the field and everything. I went when they were fixing their hall of fame, so no go, but its available again.

Search for an event like all you can eat/drink for some $ for pregame - aftergame. The one I went to in Favre's steakhouse was killer. The stadium feels like it's inside a neighborhood and has such a home feel. People may give you some boos if you go in Vikes gear but I doubt there will be any serious probs as they all seem really nice. Have fun, I am planing a second visit near the end of the season this year.

Can rent a stadium seat (depending where your tickets are...new areas up there have seat backs and all).

Not sure the cost, but the positive is it sort of sections off your butt area and you leave it there when you're done and they collect them.

As long as you're friendly, people will be friendly back. 80,000 people so there are bound to be some goofballs. Don't be the goofball.

Sho nuff knows what's up.

Krolls is a can't miss in GB....Los Banditos on Mason is right up there too if you have the time.

Lived in GB in 96 when the pack won it all. Lifelong Lions fan waving a title towel cause I knew Damn well I would never get to do it in detroit. When the pack returned from the super bowl Lambeau was a site to see no matter what team you root for.

But be warned that prices at Kroll's have exponentially went up in the last few years.

I went there a few years back. After the game, a Packers fan offered by buddies and I grilled venison right off the grill. Outstanding.

There and everywhere else... bought any beef lately?

Not to mention the cluster f of a govt we have telling people they deserve 12.00 an hour for flipping butter burgers and God forbid they offer their employees insurance.

Got to experience Chad Johnson do the Lambeau Leap into the 4 guys he planted in front row of end zone and the Bengals beat the Pack in my only trip there. Great experience even as a Bears fan. It's a must go to experience as a football fan of any team.

Doesn't sound like you'll have time but if you ever have an extra day there, do the full stadium tour. I think it's like $60 but well worth it. They take you pretty much everywhere except the locker room.

Maher gets it right, if people aren't paid enough to live the govt has to.

You never miss an opportunity to #### up a thread and push your liberal agenda, do you?

Pathetic

I think its a pretty welcoming environment to fans from other teams. Primarily good-hearted folks who want you to think well of the team, City, and State.

I found my experiences in Minneapolis less than satisfactory. I ran into many antagonistic fans. Now not all were that way. In fact more than once I was even offered B.J.'s. The guys offering them seemed nice enough, but I don't swing that way. I said perhaps they would have better luck when the Bears fans came to town. They said they always do.

The worst people in the world are criminals and people who wear jerseys to games of teams who aren't even playing
