Fitzgerald---Does he stay in Arizona? (1 Viewer)

Sorry if this is a honda but I remember reading Larry Fitzgerald can opt out of his contract at the end of this year to become a free agent. Do you think he will leave? Do you think there is any good reason he would stay?

If he did leave, where would be the best landing spot?

If he can opt out, I'd think the Rams would be attractive with how Bradford has played and the Rams should be willing to pay him well.

He stays on my bench perhaps for the rest of this season. Can't believe the Cardinals thought Anderson/Leinart/Hall would be the answer at QB. :bowtie:

The thread asking Fitz owners what they are going to do with them is halfway down the page. HTH

Gosh would I love that..........I could also see Washington, Chicago, New England, Cle., KC and SD getting in that line.I would be shocked to see him leave but if they don't bring in a new QB you never know

He looked EXTREMELY frustrated with Hall in there. (throwing his hands after being overthrown by about 20 yds) If Arizona doesn't go after Vick or someone else more competent at QB he should leave....

I think he'd want a younger guy than McNabb, Chicago's offense looks like it's issues won't be resolved soon, Pats have a history of being cheap and how they treated Moss might keep big name FA's away, KC & Cleve QB situation isn't solid, SD maybe, but will they pay Fitz a good price when they wouldn't VJ.

I think he can opt out after next season, not this one.

ETA: Yep, it's after 2011. Here's the link: link

In 2008, Fitzgerald signed a five-year contract that voided to four provided Fitzgerald met minimal performance standards.

He's done that, meaning his contract, which averages $10 million a year, will expire after the 2011 season. To avoid reaching that point, the Cardinals are expected to discuss a new contract with Fitzgerald no later than this spring, although a lockout could change the timeline.

Fitzgerald has all the leverage. Under terms of the present deal, the Cardinals cannot trade Fitzgerald or place the franchise tag on him.

Without those options, the Cardinals will want to reach agreement on an extension before Fitzgerald begins his final contract year.

If a new deal isn't reached by the start of the 2011 season, Fitzgerald could decide to see what the market will bear for a top receiver who will turn 29 in 2012. And it will bear a lot.

Looks like he can't opt out but it could be a situation where the Cards give him permission to find a trade. They can't trade him unless Fitz lets them out of the "no trade clause"
