FITZGERALD EYEBALLING ARIZONA EXIT? (1 Viewer)

Only two regular-season games into the Ken Whisenhunt era, rumors already are flying receiver Larry Fitzgerald is looking to leave the Cardinals when his rookie contract ends.

Fitzgerald, as the rumor goes, is not a big fan of Whisenhunt's run-based offense, and for good reason. Fitzgerald currently is averaging only five catches and 53.5 yards per game, which puts him on pace for 80 receptions and 856 receiving yards for the season. He currently has no receiving touchdowns in 2007.

There's no indication that Fitzgerald, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2004 draft, plans to try to force his way out prematurely. Based on the escalators in his rookie contract, there was speculation when it was signed that the Cardinals would likely have to extend the deal after four seasons. Since this is Fitzgerald's fourth season, and given that it's hard to justify two highly-paid wideouts (Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin) if the offense doesn't take full advantage of both of their skills, it could be time for the Cardinals to think about trading Fitzgerald.

One potential destination would be Minnesota, given that Fitzgerald is a native of Minneapolis and worked as a ball boy during the days of Cris Carter and Randy Moss. Though plenty of folks are murmuring about the Vikes possibly sniffing around Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb, we think it makes more sense for the Vikes try to bring Fitzgerald home.

Especially if the team wants to sell out the Metrodome on a regular basis.

Yes, this is a GOOD idea!

I love baseless speculation.

Fitzgerald to Minnesota just because he's from Minnesota? If he hates Whisenhunt's offense, how much more would he hate Childresses?

And if McNabb becomes a Viking, I hope they DO move to LA.

Considering the prolific passing offense on the Vikes I'm sure he'd be happy up there. To date Minn has a whopping 165 passing yards to wr's.

I love these too .. McNabb to the Bears because he's from Chi-Town Fitz to the Vikings cause he was a ball boy there growing up in Minny Why doesnt the NFL have the old Player Allocation Draft by Location ... that way all the players are happy and we can watch Florida , Texas, and California fight for the Championship every year ...!!!!

I'm with you guys on this. I own both of them in my full Dynasty, and would rather see Fitz just go to Philly -- but we all know they are too cheap to bring in any WR talent.

Didn't they just get rid of McNabb?Oh yeah ..........Right that was Culpepper, sometimes it's hard to tell the two apart.

Let's be honest here we know where Fitz is going to go if he does in fact want out of AZ. Washington, B. Lloyd is on the outs and although El has looked very good he would look phenominal in his natural position (the slot).

Went to PITT and would LOVE to have him on our team!

That is all you need to know about this post.
Can we please stop with this. PFT is right almost as often as ESPN at this point and everyone knows that it's a rumor site. When other media people and tons of people actually in the NFL are reading a site everyday, it's safe to say that their stuff shouldn't just be completely ignored.
which would put them at what percentage? 2? 3?

As bad as ESPN has gotten, they are not nearly as bad as PFT regarding throwing the wild rumors out there.

Pennsylvania could compete.

This type of extrapolation after 2 freaking games,

should be outlawed, and the extrapolator should be

subjected to a mild pistol whipping for the first offense.

I know, I drafted him in the 3rd round as well.. it's ok to admit a mistake...no need to get all huffy about it.

This seems like the kind of PFT rumor that is just them musing out loud, as opposed to their stuff that comes from actual sources.

in other news Lee Evans is on pace for under 200 yards. Somehow I think these guys will improve...

Fitz to the Lions..The Lions should have signed Randy Moss and then traded for Fitz.

Roy. Moss Cj and Fitz in a 4 wide set. No need for RBs..just find a decent blocking RB.

I agree...Florio likes to speculate at times. Which is what he is clearly doing in this article when he says "we think it makes more sense for the Vikes try to bring Fitzgerald home."
I will say that PFT has been more and more accurate over the last year or so...probably a bit more than some of ESPN's breaking news reports, so unjust criticism may be either dated or just plain uninformed.

This is not surprising. You can see in his face and body language that he is not happy with Leinart or the offense. Announcers have commented several times that Fitz is wide open on a particular play and Leinart is not picking him up.

I fixed it just for you, boss....(above) ;)

FYI, this topic was discussed on local radio (Bickley and MJ) this morning. I didn't hear the discussion because they were doing it "after the break," and I had to get to work, but they said the "rumors are flying about Fitz." Sorry I can't add more and even talk about what was discussed, but they did bring it up.

The Eagles should trade Winston Justice and next year's 1st rounder for Fitz.

Both teams win in this deal.

Let's be honest here. Arizona is not winning Super Bowls anytime soon. Fitzgerald might as well go to the place that will pay him for a 2nd contract, and allow him to earn a big 3rd contract. Because even the best players are only getting 2 big paydays at most after they are drafted.

If he plays out his career in Zona, with his talents being wasted, he can't expect to make as much money/playoff appearances as elsewhere. It makes sense to want to go elsewhere.

Lets be honest AZ has as much TALENT as most teams and to suggest they have no future is just being a sheep.Fitz is not going anywhere. But I'd rather see him go before Q anyways.
