Ranking The 2025 Playoff QBs (1 Viewer)

Updated Rankings:

8. C.J. Stroud – Looked decent in the first round.
7. Jalen Hurts – Looked really, really bad. He single-handedly kept a far inferior opponent in the game.
6. Jayden Daniels – He is moving up this list. You never know what you are going to get with a rookie QB in the playoffs and he passed every test.
5. Matthew Stafford – Looked poised and decisive in a romp.
4. Jared Goff – He does have some playoff success (SB and Conf. Champ. appearances). Seems to never throw an incomplete pass. Leads the best offense in the NFL.
3. Patrick Mahomes – Very pedestrian regular season, stat-wise, but you cannot argue with his 15-1 regular season record, and the fact that he has won the last two SBs. He has a pretty poor receiving corps and an aging TE, but he seems to always get it done in the post season.
2. Josh Allen – Remarkable regular season and most likely the NFL MVP. He still scares me in the post season.
1. Lamar Jackson – One the greatest seasons ever by an NFL QB. Everyone knows is playoff track record, but he still the best NFL QB right now.

Thought this was interesting.
  1. Hurts 150-630-4.2-14
  2. Daniels 148-891-6.0-6

I suppose I should have asked this a long time ago. What are the rankings indicative of? Which QB is playing the best down the stretch? Which QB is most likely to produce the biggest numbers in the playoffs? Which QB is most likely to win a random playoff game? What QB is most likely to win the SB? The answer to each of those could very well be a different QB. If it's which QB will go the farthest in the playoffs, a lot of that also would depend on the talent and health of the team he is on.

I still think that there is no shortage of people saying someone in the AFC will beat KC. Not saying that opponents don't have a chance playing at Arrowhead, but IMO, the Chiefs should be a decent favorite to make the SB. The Chiefs should move on to face the Bills or Ravens . . . and I am not so sure that Allen or Jackson will put up the same gaudy numbers that they have been against the Chiefs. Hats off to the team that beats the Chiefs (if there is one). But IMO, the Mahomes-Reid-KC defense combo will be very difficult to beat.

KC is so boring now, but they win. Reid and Mahomes are the new Belichik and Brady.

My gut tells me the Ravens have the best shot to knock em off, but I went Bills heavy in my drafts, so I'm hoping Bills end up at Arrowhead.

Which QB would I want on my team right now.

Updated heading into conference championship.

4. Jalen Hurts - easily the worst QB of the remaining. Eagles are in winning in spite of Hurts not being able to produce any offense through the air. He somehow gets worse each game.

3. Jayden Daniels - Unlike Hurts, Daniels continues to improve each week and is winning games for his team. He is entering the conversation for the best rookie QB ever. Really tough matchup but he did throw for 5 TDs in a win the last time they played the Eagles.

2. Patrick Mahomes - the only reason why he is above Daniels and Hurts is because of his past playoff successes. If he had not won the last two Super Bowls he would be dead last amongst these 4. He is now resorting to soccer (futbol) tactics and trying to draw penalties. Really annoying to watch.

1. Did not have a great game vs. the Ravens, but did enough to win. The best QB left, who had the best season, and has playoff experience. Nobody I would rather have at the helm going into Arrowhead to play the vaunted Chiefs dynasty.

What day you? Who would you want leading your team this weekend?

This kinda came up in the Chiefs gameday thread, but I never found Brady/Belichick to be boring, or as unlikeable. Maybe its because there weren't 20 Tom Brady commercials during Tom Brady games, but I personally was a lot less annoyed by the Patriots than I am by KC.

I can say confidently that I will never hate a team more than the Brady/Belichick Patriots. I have no issues with Reid/Mahomes.

Yeah, I think that's a your milage may vary thing. I didn't dislike Belichick/Brady at all, and I'm a Bears fan.

Up until this year the Chiefs and Packers were my least favorite team, now it is the Eagles. I would rip my eyes out if it were the Chiefs and Eagles in the Super Bowl.

Here is where I rank the playoff QBs. Most of this ranking is based off of regular season, with some emphasis put on historical playoff performances. Where do you rank the QBs?

14. Russell – Prime days are well behind him

13. Sam Darnold – Really good regular season, sans week 18, but prove it in the post season

12. Bo Nix – Torn between putting him or Daniels here. Looks really good, but let’s see what happens in the post season.

11. Jayden Daniels – See Bo Nix

10. C.J. Stroud – The curious case of Stroud. Looked like he was going to be a perennial world beater his rookie season only to have a sophomore slump. Love Stroud long term and think the WR injury situation really hampered his progress in 2024

9. Jordan Love – has turned into the ultimate game manager (handoff machine) since the bye. If they let the old gunslinger come out and play, he could move way up this list.

8. Jalen Hurts – Head injuries are not good. Missing multiple weeks is not good. He has a big boom or bust potential.

7. Baker Mayfield – reminds me of a week 1-7 Jordan Love. Interceptions be damned, this ball is getting chucked.

6. Matthew Stafford – Grizzled old veteran with proven playoff success and a tremendous receiving corp. LA could make a run purely on his right arm.

5. Justin Herbert – Kind of turned into a game manager, ala Love, but has the pedigree to compete in any type of game.

Thanks for taking the time and the courage to put this out there. That's awesome. Good job and thanks for work.

Why the Eagles this year? Like, what changed about the Eagles from 2023 to 2024? Do you hate Vic Fangio, or Saquon Barkley or something?

Nothing worth talking about, but it has nothing to do with the players or coaches.

I know that you’re astute when it comes to football but do you just tune out everything else? Have you ever seen an Eagles related thread on this forum where there wasn’t bickering?

I can handle bickering just fine, it is way beyond that.

Yeah, I guess I don't really pay too much attention to the bickering or certain fandoms. Perhaps that's why I didn't mind Brady/Belichick?

Though, I wouldn't think bickering would be the reason to suddenly hate the Eagles, as I don't imagine its suddenly different this year. I also wouldn't assume it was from the fan incident in the Packers game, because if we judge each team by their worst fan, oh boy.

It’s all good, I just really want the Eagles to lose.

I went Bills/eagles heavy in my drafts so I want that for the SB.......it would be fitting for the eagles to finish the NFC east quadfecta (is that a word?) against the Bills

I’ll take the guy that has been to the AFCCG every year he’s been a starter (7 years), despite what the regular season numbers might say.
