Fitzgerald: 71 Catches / 798 Yards / 4 TouchdownsRoberts: 64 Catches / 759 Yards / 5 TouchdownsReally? He almost got outplayed by receivers on his own team.

I expect him to be his usual studly self given that he'll actually have some real QBs throwing him the ball.

The game desperately needs name recognition with all of the top flight players that are opting out of it. Honestly its time to put the game to pasture. Does anyone really care if they play it or not?

71 catches for 798 and 4 tds on this year's Cards team translates to 105 catches for 1500 yards and 10 tds on an average team.

If Jeff Saturday was voted in, then that's all anyone needs to know about the validity of this popularity contest. There are many more deserving players if stats and actual Preformance was used instead of name recognition.

The problem is that the former doesn't always reflect the latter. Fitzgerald is a good example of this.

At least in football it isn't a popularity contest until someone gets hurt or cancels. The All-Star game has been a popularity contest for as long as I can remember and probably forever.

You do realize that Roberts benefits greatly by the coverage on Fitz, right? In other words, have teams cover Roberts like they cover Fitz, and vice versa, and Fitz would have been a first team All-Pro.

You do realize Fitzgerald went for 80 / 1,411, / 8 Touchdowns last year with the same exact set of QBs throwing him the ball, right? The guy phoned it in this year.EDIT: This reminds me of the old Fitzgerald / Boldin debate.

His pro bowl nod is dumb. You saying he phoned it in is worse. Definitely not the case. I had to watch all year in this terrible football market. Don't make me relive it.

I hate these forums. No, I'm not saying that Roberts is on the same skill level as Fitzgerald or Boldin. But way to be an elitist ####.

Larry Fitzgerald making the 2012 Pro Bowl isn't even in the top 10 for reasons why the Pro Bowl is a joke.Just cancel the game and replace it with the Senior Bowl already. Those players have something to play for and will give fans a much better game to watch. The week of "injuries" and Pro Bowl replacements has gotten embarrassing. Not as embarrassing as the actual game though.

Should just do a skills competition and have a presentation of the year's all-pro team. Would be more entertaining and would only last about an hour.

Fitz being called a 2012 pro bowler is a joke. Fitz playing in this game? About the only reason I have to watch, curious to see what he does surrounded by actual talent

Then, what the hell are you trying to say? Whatever it is, you're doing it wrong.

If your concern is that fitz being in the pro bowl is a joke, you're focussing on the wrong part of the story. Fitz deserves any accolade the NFL can bestow onto him. He is a great athlete, top among his peers, AND he is a good human being. The pro bowl itself is the ridiculous part of this title.

Wait, did someone say that Fitz phoned it in this year? LOLFitz didn't have a normal Fitz year, but it damn sure wasn't because he phoned it in...and if you think Andre Roberts is better in any possible way I have a girl named Lennay that would like to meet you.Through the first 6 games (before Kolb got hurt) Fitz had 430 yards and 3 TDs, which should show you how bad the QB play was in the remaining 10 games. The guy is a saint for not blasting the QB situation publicly.

I hope they don't put in bonuses for making the Pro Bowl in player contracts anymore.
:goodposting: It is funny how they say 'so and so' made the pro bowl last year...and the three "pro bowlers" on the list ahead of him just decided not to go, yet they all are called pro bowlers.

I wouldn't accuse him of that, where is the evidence? Just because the numbers aren't there? I don't believe he should be a Pro Bowl player this year but I'm not willing to say he didn't try his best each time he played.

Seriously? Do people actually think Fitz numbers deserve a ProBowl bid?1 - If you do, you are doing it off reputation and thats not what gets you in the probowl, its based of play this year. So you are wrong there.2 - If you do, because of performance, you do not understand what performance is. Not reaching 800 yards or 5 scores is sad production. So you are wrong there. Conclusion - He does not belong in the Probowl, its fact not opinion. Fact is supported by proof of his numbers being bad and he is not worthy of all star level discussion, regardless of his reputation. This was fun.

its all context, if he has the ballboy throwing to him, he is all world..imho he is one of the all time greats.. the pro bowl is where de does belong just so we can see him catch some passes from a legit qb for a change..one of the great crimes the past few years has been not geting l fitz a qb!

The Fitz defense was against the supremely idiotic claim that he phoned in last season. Nobody with an ounce of sense is arguing that he deserves to be there this year, nor does anyone with an ounce of sense think that people are clamoring to say that he deserves to be there.
