Fitzpatrick to Cincy (1 Viewer)

Ryan Fitzpatrick traded to the Bengals.

Does this move bump him up from SL's #3 QB to Cincy's #2?

Not to roster the guy at this point but is there any chance of him getting a starting position somewhere down the line?

Considering he has only to beat out Doug Johnson, I would say he'll be the QB2 once he learns the playbook. For now, he'll probably be the emergency guy.

He should be the #2. Doug Johnson is abysmal. Jeff Rowe (rookie 5th round pick) has looked great and should eventually become the #2 with experience.

At first glance, I was happy about this trade. I think though, I just saw it was for a 3RD ROUND PICK!!!????. I seriously don't get it.

Hopefully the Bengals did not have to give up much. I would think there are going to be better options out of a job later this afternoon.

As far as Doug Johnson, he was horrible during preseason. Good Riddance.

Please tell me you aren't serious.I was hoping for a waiver wire find to jettison Johnson as much as anyone, but Fitzpatrick can't possibly be worth that.

Doing some more research and the 3rd round pick thing is from a Bengals message board. I may have jumped the gun a bit...it just freaked me out. I am doubting that they gave that much up for a 3rd string former 7th round pick. Sorry guys..I'll look into it some more. I saw at another place that it was for a 7th rounder, which sounds much more reasonable.

7th rounder. Whew.

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who had spent the past two seasons as the Rams' No. 3 quarterback, has been traded to the Cincinnati Bengals for a seventh round pick in the 2008 draft.
The sad thing is every Bengals fan knew it was not unthinkable for Mike Brown to give away a 3rd rounder.
You're right, I had doubts for a couple seconds. Bengals aren't afraid to invest that third round pick on something risky but valuable for future years, though. See also Ahmad Brooks and Frostee Rucker.

Can we safely say this guy was the worst backup QB in the history of the NFL?

The guy made Ric Mirer look like an All-Pro. How is this guy even still in the league??? What tape exactly were the Bills coaches looking at when they signed him this offseason??? Coaches must really love that Harvard background.

The Bills liked his Harvard background for sure. I have no idea he stinks and has been getting out played by Gibran Hamden our third stringer for Iraq/Iran or whatever.

From Wikipedia:"Hamdan's mother was a 16-year-old from Pakistan when she married his father, a Palestinian nuclear engineer who attended the University of Illinois but met her on a business trip. Hamdan was born in San Diego, but his family moved to Kuwait when he was three."

Thanks that's an interesting story.

That said I'm sure the 3rd-string QB on the Iraqi national football team probably is better than Fitzpatrick.

However, worst in the NFL ever? Parnell Dickinson might have something to say about that...
