not some huge cut of steak thrown on a loaf of bread with nothing else. I mean, I'm sure that's good too because it's steak but it just looked weird to me.
that certainly looks good but give a whole steak in a bun a shot. It's really good although becoming increasingly rare on menus. It HAS to be a tender cut though. Nothing less than rib eye or you'll be struggling the whole meal.

There's a place by my work that sells them and does them extremely well. I'll pick one up for lunch and take a pic.

also, I'll take a Beef on Weck from Buffalo or an Italian Beef from Chicago over your Beef Debris Po Boy any day of the week.
Had it and it is good.
I haven't had it, but am curious if Rude's had a Debris Po Boy before. If he has and he's still choosing these other things, then definitely want one.

And man, am I craving a Sandwich tonight on potato buns with lettuce, pickles, mustard, ground beef with melted pepper jack on it.

it's the bread that makes it.

basically roast beef, au jus, and horseradish on a salty kimmelweck roll.

I used to go to Buffalo on business fairly regularly. Also got to the famous Anchor Bar for wings on several occasions.

The FFA teaches me something new every day. I always thought a Po' Boy was a sandwich (i.e. pulled pork) with slaw on it
Depends on where you are. Pretty much every region has some kind of originally cheap big sandwich(often made with trimmings from other orders) that was sold to low wage workers and earned the name Poor Boy or Po Boy.
Except in New Orleans, it was originally a sandwich given out for free by a local restaurant to the striking transportation workers - the Poor Boys on the picket line.

Had this Beef on Weck, and it is wonderful.

Doesn't hold a candle to an Acme Ten Napkin Roast Beef Po'boy, in my opinion, but that's personal taste.

Had Steak & Shake for lunch yesterday. I ordered the Frisco Melt with fries and spent $5.98. It's a burger with melted swiss, on a buttered sour dough bread served with a tangy sauce. It was pretty much a grilled cheese with a burger patty and it was awesome. Great price fro this meal, especially in Midtown Manhattan.

It looks like some kind of mutant Cuban sandwich IMO.

ETA: Pressed bread right?
http://chicago.seriouseats.com/2011/12/a-sandwich-a-day-the-pepito-at-irazu-cafe.html

And under the sandwich portion of that menu reigns the Pepito ($4.95). Billed as a "Chicago favorite," the Pepito features rib eye steak (or chicken), huge chunks of sautéed onion, seasoned black beans and melted muenster cheese between two thick slabs of freshly-baked french bread. Topping everything off is salsa lizano, a typical Costa Rican brown sauce made from vegetables and spices. It adds a nice sweet flavor while still giving the sandwich a subtly spicy kick. Avocados cost an extra 50 cents, but are completely worth it.

The bread looked pretty flat in that pic.

ETA: Not the Pepito pic.....the other one

This thread has me craving a burger sandwich from five guys.
Had one yesterday due to this thread and then realized this thread is somewhere completely different, so I didn't post about it.
Don't let that stop you. You post about your experience if it damn well pleases you!!#@
:lmao: It just felt wrong. Like I had walked into a bar with a bottle of whiskey only to find out that night was the AA meeting.

Have you had a debris po'boy?

there's like 500 delicious food items in New Orleans. Tough to choose that over all the others, but I will try to seek one out next time I'm in the area.

You won't be disappointed. Probably not as good as your Wheck Wicks or Sauso Sandos but I assure you that a debris po'boy is worth your time. Get one at Mother's with a bowl of turtle soup.

I don't think so.
Kinda makes your earlier post pretty silly then, no?
not really

it's has 'debris' in the name. I'm playing the odds on this one.
SOUNDS DISGUSTING!
so its basically a sloppy joe with Worcester instead of ketchup.
Except that it's nothing at all like that.

Sure

how is that po boy any better than an Italian Beef Dipped with Hot Peppers?

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1J0inqrw4Vo/TsMQ81bAgPI/AAAAAAAAHno/SNDVXrQZBoA/s1600/P1220292.JPG
Primarily the bread and the fact that your Italian Beef hasn't been simmered in gravy for a day or so before being put on the better bread and then topped with mayonnaise, lettuce, pickles, and tomato.
Hot Giardiniera >>>>>>>>> Mayo, Lettuce, Pickles, Tomato (and whateaver else you want to throw on it)

Also, dipping bread in the juice makes it about the best thing ever.

I'm familiar with Italian Beef. I'm also familiar with a debris po'boy. You are not. Your opinion is just a weird decision that you don't want to like it as much or more. I can't decide if it's because you just want to argue about something you don't know about, or something deeper and sinister in your personality. Can you help me decide?

I asked what makes it better and you told me they use magic bread, plus add mayo and veggies that you can pretty much put on any sandwich ever made anywhere in the entire USA.

great story. way to sell it!

EDIT: I was just in New Orleans. Did tons of research, and ate tons of great food. Not once did anybody ever recommend this Debris Po Boy before or during my trip. So, it's all kind of new to me and I'm not sure why it doesn't get publicized more if it's as mindblowing as you two are making it out to be here.

They're awesome. I'm not going to say better or worse than a po' boy - but they're truly phenomenal.

That looks good too. I'd probably like to eat one before definitively saying it's a better sandwich than a debris po'boy unequivocally.
Once again, wouldn't say better or worse, but Italian beef is awesome. I've only been to Chicago twice, so I don't know if this is commonplace or blasphemy there, but a place near me run by a Chicago transplant does an Italian beef with an Italian sausage in it as well. I have never ordered it b/c the regular IB is so good I didn't want to mess with it, but some day I will.

that's a combo. very common, and also awesome.

If I recap this as "I haven't eaten one, and I don't like your explanation of why it's better, so I'm going to assume that it isn't" will you be upset? Or should I add "I didn't read the part where you said it's simmering in gravy all day?"

I can't bring myself to do it. The Italian beef is such a thing of perfection on its own that I'm afraid to sully it.
